Alrighty, I just got the guide today and have read it over, as well as most of the forum. I saw some were in the forum that the 1017 Pro Lens Kit is quite abit better then the 1005 Lumenlab Lens Kit. Im going to be using the 15" Lcd screen so i don't need the size but if the performance is better I'd go with it.
I know its going to be better, but a $130 USD better, thats huge in Canadian funds so im not sure if its worth my while. (I am a Starving College Bum)

Thanks

It is a very high performance lens on many counts. If you want to do it right, get the big lenses.

What is the difference between the two kits? will the pro let more light through or be clearer or what?

Regulator, being a Canadian, I know how much $250 USD can hurt. I think the 2 key factors that set the pro kit apart from the original kit is that the projection lens is bigger so it will let more light through (and work with a larger panel) and that you can set your projector much farther back than with the regular set of lenses. Now, having built a projector already, I can say that if you are on a tight budget, the original lenses will still make you very happy.

Sweet , thats exactly what i wanted to hear! thanks!

One last question, how far would the regular kit throw the image, I want to mount my projector in a walkin closet so the closet door would close and hide the giant projector box. so it will be between 14 -16 ft from the screen.

Can i get away with that?
neda
Since the ratio is 1:1, you would end up with a 14-16 feet image. It'd be washed out and too big, not suitable for viewing. For a throwing distance like this, you should get the pro lens. If you are on a budget, hold off or find a different way to place your PJ (ceiling mount or coffee table a la moose).
KingOfSwords
Yep, Neda is right on. 14-16' is a little ambitious for the regular lens. 8-9' will give you a great picture. 10-12' pretty good. You might want to consider a rolling cart or something if you want to be able to hide your projector when not in use if you use the regular lenses. But those higher distances would probably be better dealt with by the pro kit.

I'm attempting to build a 5" lcd projector using the psone screen for now and was wondering if there is a certain diameter lense that i need to use or does it just simply matter on the focal length of my projection lense? For example: Can i use a 2.5" diameter lense with a focal length of about 3"(to keep the box small)-or does the lense have to be a certain diameter to match the screen?
