i recently stripped a dell 17" and when I tested it, the board started smoking and no longer works. well i took the board from a 19" 1702 and it actually works with the lcd. there is one problem, board is for a 19" and not all of the image is present. Anyone have any suggestions, to how I could fix this problem?

Were both LCD's the same res? Sounds like the 19 was higher resolution which explains why not all the image is being displayed.

If the controller doesnt work strait off then there is little you can do your self.

Some controllers can be reprogrammed but you need to send it and the LCD to somone with the software and interface kit and will cost $$

You could try ebay for a broken monitor of the same model, if the LCD is cracked or damaged the controller should/might still work.
