alright i ordered a haas style box for a 15 inch lcd....it just came in today and it came with the mogul, light, reflector, and stand...so now all im waiting for really is the ballast, freshnals and lcd....ive been looking around but cant find one in the price range i would like....still trying to get at least 720 out of my projector....im going to take pictures of everything because i sit on LL all day and look at other peoples and my gf hates this site now but oh well she'll love it after the projector is up and running i really cant wait....
by the way i know i need other stuff so if anyone can make suggestions let me know..... if this helps there is a home depot where i live which i am in luck cause my tiny town where i go to college barely has anything so yeah would love any help and suggestions
oh one more thing still looking for an lcd monitor i prefer a 15 inch wxga (720) something around $150...just point me in the right direction thanks

lol, ur going to have to pick man: GF or High-Def projector.
haha just kidding, there is plenty of info out there, if you want to be "pointed in the right direction" you are already here man, at LL.
What i would personally do to make ur life easier, is find a PLOG that has been sucessful and then just copy exactly what they did lol... unless you really want to try something new. There is a huge database of compatible LCD"s and 150$ price range is average, but could get away with "broken backlight" lcd on ebay for cheap. Even here at trading post some go for like 30$ ... check trading post OFTEN for awsome deals or post if you are unsure if the monitor has FCC issues.
Home depot is a good source for Lexan XL10 (same as tempered glass) and pretty much any tools and supplies you are going to need. Besides the Triplet Lens and Fresnels you should not have a problem finding supplies.
Good luck. Hope I gave some info that helped =)

Hmm.. that monitor won't do 720p... The resolution required is 1280 x 720 for full 720p, so 1024x768 is a bit narrow. This is the reason most people built with a 17in display with PRO lenses before the 10.6" panels arrived.
It wouldn't happen to be a flexscan L365 would it ? I used one of these in a previous build, the clarity & colours amazed me on the projection and the antiglare came straight off with a 4 hour tapwater soak, but it did have FFC issues, I sorted that with a 16pin 0.5mm pitch FFC extension from the lumenlab store.
good luck !

It was great for me... I abandoned my 1st plog though in a rush to complete the PJ. There was another member weldonjb who posted results pics with a flexscan L365:
http://www.lumenlab.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14175Worth a read through.
It was easy to tear down... apart from two philips size #000 screws that I had to buy a new screwdriver to get out. The antiglare literally fell off after a 4 hour soak:
http://www.lumenlab.com/forums/index.php?s...st&p=161366The projected colours were fantastic. The only downside of this panel was the FFC extension. A 16pin 0.5mm extension will work fine for you.

I use www.photobucket.com
A free account to store online photos, you can then insert them to the plog using:

obviously substituting the link to your pic, photobucket will generate this for you beneath each picture.

You have all the parts to your ballast it is a M59 and only has a cap.
There is two wires on the ballast to feed the lamp one says CAP and one will say COM ( you will have two COM wires)
The one that says CAP conect to either wire on the cap( there is no backwards). Then the other wire from the cap goes to the lamp and one of the COM wires.
This will leave you 1 COM wire and the taps for 110v and all the rest. Tape off the 440v 277 240 and 208 leads. The only two wires left should be the 110v and the COM. Conect the power coard to the two wires. The black wire on the power coard should be ground or COM.

That is just a bad idea. The tape can't provide enough force downward to make the FFC contact sufficiently to one another. Sometimes the the end of the FFC could be slightly bent (mine was) and you will need to have another means to force the contact surfaces together. A ZIF socket will do the trick or perhaps a dual jumper.
There are 3 ways I've seen it done:
Press Fit:
Align the FFC ends and then secure them in place with plastic, screws, and hot glue. Very Difficult!
This is the recommended way by LL. It is easier to align the ends with a ZIF (Zero Insertion Force; aka Lower Insertion Force) Socket. Hot glue is usually added afterwards to secure in place. This not as difficult, but it is hard to push both ends into the FFCs into one ZIF socket.
Click to view attachmentDual ZIF Jumper:
Easiest To Do. This is a relatively new item. I used it, and it took me 10 seconds to make a good connection. They are currenly only available at
DIY-Bemeamer.comClick to view attachmentHope this helps...
Cheers!

P.S. What is the size of your FFC? How many lines, how wide in mm, and what is the thinkness?

I guess it would, if you have an compatible video card.
This is for output from a PC with the proper video card.
" Note:
**This adapter will ONLY work with VGA display cards that has TV-Out function capability.
**This cable needs special necessary display card (For example: G400, the NV6 series by superior, etc) supports the VGA signal, transforms the S signal or the AV signal, without this function this cable can not be able to use

ok another question i have is that i heard that depending on the input to the lcd on the projector you will get brighter picture....ok for instance i plug in my laptop and dont get that bright a picture so i was wondering maybe if i get like a dvd player and plug that in i will get better and brighter picture
ChuckL

I would not say that that is altogether true. A dvd player will in most cases will not have controls for brightness, contrast ect. Your computer however does(in most cases) have the ability to control brightness, contrast, hue, saturation and gamma(not all). All of these can have a drastic effect on your projection.Look on the control panel of your video to see what you can adjust. Most video software can give you that control also.
What kind of laptop do you have and what kind of graphics?

Ok its been a long time since ive got to work on my pj and posted on here. So since i got picture i was satisfied for a while and just watched movies but it was really dark so im looking for a better lamp i have a ballast that needs a M59 or h33 lamp. or if you look on my first page that type of lamp. if anyone has a spare one let me know your price. also i dont know what its really called if someone can tell me also what kind it is so i can ask on the trading post for one to see if i can get one there.
Also i have started a coffee table design i got a free coffee table (a little beat) but still sturdy and decent looking i will take pictures once i get a camera and restart my Plog. I figured since this projector is gonna be at my GF's house i need a decent looking coffee table so i got this one hoping i wont have to do much cutting and adjusting since i dont have many tools where i live during school.

You should send a PM to ArizonaVideo and ask him. He is the light expert. Make sure you tell him what type of ballast you have.
But even if the auction ends before you know if you want to buy it, you should contact the buyer and ask if he will sell you one a week late or so. Since he has 7 available, he will probably willing to do so.

thanks fulcrum i am a big fan of your work!
i did read up on it a little bit more and found its exactly like the bulb i first had.(the one pictured in early posts) I did get it as i was debating on getting a 10,000 kelvins bulb but found out that it would look bluish and would wash out the colors. So i stuck with 6500k and it should be plenty bright as i do also plan to make adjustments to the inside of my pj because i just kinda threw it together because i wanted to use it so bad lol.
The bulb i had purchased off ebay was a 4000k or so. So brightness was a big issue. also the bulb was a different kind so it didnt fit well.
I am planning on adjusting a better light path to make sure i am getting plenty of brightness from corner to corner. Someone(found out it was kdvail) on here made a really interesting way to get the most light possible. I forgot who to give him credit but i will in about 3 weeks start posting pics again because right now i cant even work on my pj cause its at my house where i go to college. so right now just got the bulb of coarse but well on my way to making my pj complete. I will definately make sure i take before and after pics so everyone can see the difference between light bulbs and exactly what i was having to deal with!

alright so sorry i havent taken some screenies but it looks awesome! I am kinda concerned with heat i have 2 fans working at full blast a little noisy but dont really care. I was just wondering would that be enough? i know i need to get pictures up but i have been packing cause i am moving. I dont have a 12volt adapter for the fan so that what i mean by full blast so i was wondering if that enough i just dont want anything to burn down!
