Hello all,
The thought occurred to me that i could make a video log of my projector build and i was wondering if there would be any interest in this idea? If there is enough interest i will definitely go ahead with the idea.
Also i would like to host the video's for free, so a recommended video hosting site would be nice. Does anybody know how i could setup a rss service also, that would be useful. I have a high quality camera and tripod so it would be fairly professional. I would be looking to host the videos at 640x480 res and mp4 compression of some sort.
I want to avoid using sites like youtube, because i feel the quality suffers far too much.
All the parts have arrived and i am planning on buying the wood for the enclosure soon.
I did have a OHP setup projector that worked fairly well but it was expensive to run(650watts) and i had to replace the bulb every 50 hours or so, hence my reasoning to build a new lumenlab type enclosure.
your comments would be greatly appreciated
Dan

as much as i hate the video sharing sites on the internet, i'm willing to give you some advice.
video hosting is very bandwidth intensive and can cost a lot. Unless you plan to raise money from the videos (ads on your site, membership fee to watch them, etc..) You'll probably want to use a free service like youtude (did i just say that!?).
do i think its an interesting idea? sure! I've watch good tutorial videos and learned a lot from them. on the flip side there is a ton of junk out that too (99% of youTube is trash..). as long as your videos have good content people will watch them.
As for RSS, you could start a free blog somewhere that has rss built-in. then just embed your videos into your blog (or link to them).
good luck!

Hi,
I use videoaddon at
http://videoaddon.com/index.html. I think the quality is good--it converts your video into a flash video for you. They host the video too. I use it for my classroom since it seems like a good way to bring video into use without worrying about links to other videos. I guess I like the level of control they give you. Also, they have reasonable flat rate prices and free trials. On my plan they limit my uploads to something like 52mb each video and they don't don't charge for the downloads. I'll try to find one that can be posted here.

It's kind of cheesy but works. My other vids are classroom stuff like spelling words.
