Full Version: Questions about the new Venture Uni-Form system

I noticed that LightingUnlimited just started carrying the Venture Uni-Form System. Several questions. First, what's teh advantage of this bulb (other than more lumens)? Also, what exactly is a pulse-start lamp. Third, is its ballast electronic, and can I use it instead of buying the magnetic one for the Eye lamp (i'm kinda short on cash right now)?

I haven't personally tested the Venture lamp so I can't comment on it. As far as I know no one has tested it. The Ushio we sell is a very good lamp that is very stable and has a pleasing white color. The ballast isn't electronic although I will carry an electronic ballast within the next few weeks. You need an M135 for either lamp or an M59 for the EYE.

A pulse start lamp is different from a regular halide in that it does not have a starting probe in the arc envelope. Instead of a probe to light the lamp it uses a powerful pulse from an ignitor to jump start the bulb. Because there is no probe, they can manufacture a smaller arc envelope that allows for faster startups and faster restrike times.

You could always take a snapshot of the chart on your desktop, edit it, and then upload it here as a jpg. tongue.gif

Heheh. Thinking outside of the box. lol.

Anyway, what specs do you mean? The S400DD is an awesome bulb. It's sold right here in the LL store and a bunch of other places. Once great place I always recommend for it is Atlanta Light Bulbs.com. Best customer service I've come across since the early days of NewEgg. The bulbs main specs are in LL's store too.
