I am going to make a projector and a theater in the next month. It will be as close to a theater as my budget will allow. I will have a futon for seating and will try to make it as close to a theater as possible. Sunlight won't be a problem because of our hurricane shutters. I will try to keep a log on here of my progress

Here is where the Futon is going. It is going to lay down with pillows against the wall. It is 3" lower than the AC.

Here is where I plan on storing the movies/games and also plan on keeping the dvdplayer, receiver, xbox, Wii, and cable box in here. My computer will probaly be in there as well...

Here is the wall where the screen is going to be. Since I am hoping to ceiling mount the projector I will have to get a flush mounted fan and remove the light kit. I am planning on putting a light box above the futon.

The room is around 14 feet long and about 9 feet wide. I will update with pictures of cleaning the room, and as things come together. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Good Luck! I'm about to purchase a Infocus Play Big IN72(hopefully later today!) and make my room a mini theater for all my games and movies. you got to have some surround sound too!

Well I haven't been able to work on the room at all, but I thought I would post the HT items I would be using.


Projector: homemade 720p (hopefully starting that next week)

Cable Box: HD dvi cable

Game: Xbox and Wii

Reciever: Onkyo HT-R510 6.1 surround

Speakers: Fluance towers center and surrounds. (for generic "cheap" speakers these work great)

Sub: 10" Cerwin Vega

Dvd: Samsung HD841 upconverting dvd player.

Oh and a single core computer that would get my attention if it wasn't for this project...
