Ok it's 4am and i just ordered my 17" Samsung Syncmaster 740 from Dustin.se and im tired as hell..
Yesterday i orderd the Pro-lens kit but from www.diy-beamer.com (for us europeian guys) and to that
i'll top it all off with an Osram 400W lamp
http://diy-beamer.com/EN/store/comersus_vi...p?idProduct=276 <-- Lamp kit
http://diy-beamer.com/EN/store/comersus_vi...p?idProduct=286 <-- Lens kit

It will be the basic box-configure and probably will be split optics since im gonna mount it in the celing.
i just figured i'd start a Plog and then go to bed, i gotta get some sleep, just had a baby daughter 25
days ago so they tend to mess up yer sleeping-patterns hehe
But if u have any good tips or one of those "WHATEVER THE F**K U DO!! DON'T [insert tip here] !!!"
just hollor =)

Whatever you do:
- don't have more kids.
- don't take as long as that Durachko did to get something working.
- don't spend less than half your life researching in the forums.
- don't think you're going to get off cheap doing this.
- don't expect to not lose even more sleep once you start your projector.
- don't expect to be satisfied once you're "done".
- don't be shocked when your friends can't believe what you've done.
- don't watch more than 23 hours of DVD's per day.
- don't spend half your life savings on an overpriced screen.
- don't believe elken is an alien.
- don't ever bait me again like this.
Welcome and best of luck with your daughter and your projector.

HAHA .. last nail in the coffin huh? hehe guess im screwed lol.
I figured i'd update with a new picture =) i bought a Radial Fan for about 27usd and it runs on 220V and has it's own ballast, and DAMN IT MOVES SOM MASIVE AMOUNTS OF AIR!! think i might need a dimmer to rev it down a bit cuz this thing is insane hehe.
Thinking of designing the box so that i can mount the fan inside the box making the noiselevels go down a bit, using funnels in a way, i'll see what i'll come up with =)

I just had to figure that one out myself today for my plog. Click on "More Options", then browse for your pic and click the add attachment or something like that button. If the file is small enough it will then be listed and you will need to click on the add to post button. I'm not sure what the file size limit is but the pics I added were about 18K. I used a program called IrfanView to compress the photos to a smaller size. You can download it for free. I got it on tucows.

There we go! here's a picture of it, it's a small one but u get the idea =)
Click to view attachmentThe fan is a 220V fan, i can fix a small video of how much noise it makes when it's in free air, will do that on request only tho, if yer interested let me know.
Lets just hope my stuff arrives as soon as possible =) ive heard it's a simple monitor to strip so im not too worried =)
Designwise ive been thinking a bit, and since it's gonna be quite a major part of the room why not go all out building something that looks a lil better than a box, so it'll be a haas-style Sorta box but probably without the roundings, will probably just be flat surfaces but still it looks better than a large box hanging from the ceeling hehe
Later updates when i get the stuff for messuring, need to know that in order to start designing the box.
couple things im thinking about, what's the advantage of building a lightbox? im gonna use a precondenser lens infront of the lamp to somewhat fiddle with the light but im not quite sure what's the advantage besides the cooling-issue

Today i was at ikea and i was gonna buy the bowl reflector but damn the size i was looking for was out, they only had the 20cm one (about 7,8"). So i turned my heal and headed for the exit when i walked passed some kitchentools that caught my attention, check this out =)
Click to view attachmentClick to view attachmenti allso found another one that wasn't completely sphearical but it was interesting how it reflected the light at my face from the ikea roof, so i bought it too, it has a flat surface but its brushed inside so i need to give it a good ol pollish to make it reflect perfectly =)

oh btw the fan's opening is 183x40mm - i found some specs about it in the shops own catalog and it sais that it moves 40liters\sec =D=D That's quite massive - easy to tune down with a standard light dimmer.
Let me know if ya need one, shouldn't be too hard to arrange =)
I'll keep yall updated

FL Tripplet 19"

hmm yet another thing i bumped into, i read some about precondensor lenses and i couldn't wrap my head around it quite as easily as i wanted..
Ive ordered this PClens

Piece with fixed Focal Length.

The problem im seeing is using that PC with the low FL rear fresnel, will it cover the whole fresnel or will it cause a problem?
Any tips about how to "think" concerning precondensers would be a big help, what should the messure be between the bulb and the PC and between the PC to the Fresnel? One other thing, when using a PC, should the lightsource still be placed at the FL of the rear fresnel? or does the precondenser become the "lightsource" when one is being used?
gosh im getting messy hehe

What I recall it takes the day you paid plus two banking days, so it would take at least 3 days untill they see the money transfer, but it depends how long the banking day is

Just send them an email and tell that you've paid, try to use german, because sometimes it's really pain in the ass getting message throught in english.

okay back from a good night's sleep, i just spoke with Mr-DIY-beamer and he had just recieved the transffer and shipped the stuff off right away!
I must say he he has been by far the best dealer ive found concerning DIY projector stuff, easy to get along with, u can keep an open dialog with him and his english was superb, no problems what so ever on that part =)
So if you're in europe (he ships worldwide too tho =) check out his site if LL dont have in stock or if prices vary.
http://diy-beamer.com Send him an email if ya have questions and he'll be happy to help ya out in any way he can.
Thanks for the reply tho ArhPos u were right it took 4 days with this morgning included so u where spot on.
Anyways my lenses and ballast and lights are on their way and IM UBER EXITED =D=D=D=D=D
A question tho, should i cut the fresnels or should i keep the size they're in? the display is 365mm wide with housing (slim frame) and the fresnels are 436mm if im not misstaking, seems kinda large to me but if there are any advantages in that then sure bacon i'll leave them as they are.

It is up to you.If you have enough room in your box, then leave them uncut, but much bigger than the lcd is a waste, and the extra light passing through may need to be controlled.

I cut my fresnels to be about 1/2" (~13cm) bigger on each side after they were enclosed in my fresnel frame. I haven't had any problems with that size.

Haha, I know what you mean. Fortunately for me, my co-worker is building a projector at the same time as me so I do have an outlet for all this pent-up creativity and anticipation. All i need to keep me on a highway to DIY heaven =D
It's getting late here and my daughter is being a bit grumpy tonight so i gotta get me arse out'a here but here's a pic of a VERY wellpacked parcel.
Not to mention i just spent 1000 bucks on home-cinema stuff from NAD =D (2 boxes to the right)

More pictures will come tomorow, just gotta say thanks to Gerhard at DIY-Beamer.com for some of the best service ive recieved so far, fast shipping and not even WWIII would harm this parcel, oh and did i mention i figured out he was a smoker lol, once i opened the parcel i quickly realized first of all he must have spent a whole afternoon just packing this stuff, and probably 4-6 smokes before he was done lol.
All in all it was a wellsmoked - wellpacked parcel and im pleased to see he used 2 flat peices of 1" thick styrofoam for the fresnels, good work Gerhard!.
Ok nuff sunshine on his ass he did a good job and he knows it so lets just leave it at that!.
More updates tomorow as i plan to testrun the lamp tomorow night.
Peace out.
