I have a Dell Dimension 4400 PC with per-installed VideoCard NVIDIA GE Force 2 MX/MX 400.

I have connected the PC to the Television using an S Video cable. I can only get a picture of my Desktop on the TV. Even if I run an applicaton the desktop picture remains on the TV. What am I doing wrong. Basically I want to watch DVD's or downloaded fims on the TV Monitor. (I am using PC TOOL)

Any advice.. I am not technically expert.

You're probably just extending your desktop to it instead of cloning. You need to use your
mouse to physically drag the program to that "monitor" if you're going to use it that way, I
believe. If you right click on the desktop and select properties, and go to the settings tab,
you should see what "position" your second "monitor" is, and you can actually move your
mouse over there.

As long as you can do that, you can drag a window over there.

Since its a plasma (HD) there are probably better inputs than S-Video. See if it will take DVI or VGA, will be much better.

Your motherboard has a available AGP video card slot, so you should save yourself alot of trouble and a crappy picture by getting a new video card. Take a look at either a NIVDIA 6600 or 7600 series card that has a DVI or HDTV (component) outputs. Having a plasma tv you most likely will have either of these inputs on it. Do some research on your tv for the native resolution that it displays (forget maximium supported) and then set the card to output at that.

Hope this helps.
