~Do I need the Wuxga controller for this monitor?

I'm going to use the LL Lighting Kit (I'm open to other cost effecient alternatives)
* LL65K T15 Lamp
* Mogul base HID Socket
* LL/Vue 400w eBallast

Fresnels:
395mm x 395mm

standard LL triplet
or
LL Pro lens kit with 18" Beseler Triplet with the Pro Fresnels from LL.

tempered glass

I plan to test with this monitor, and if all goes well and after tweaks, go to the 1080p WUXGA lcd panel.
The screen is 12ft from the area where ill be housing the projector.

I will be using just a standard PJ "box" until I figure out what works and what does not.

Primary use will be XBOX and Movies played from computer or xbox 360. (Not really a TV fan now that football season is over)

If anyone has any tips, suggestions or any feedback (pos or negative) all welcome!

No you won't need a Wuxga contoller for that Lcd. It has a VGA controller built in.

I would recommend the 18" Beseler with Pro Fresnels. It would be the brightest setup IMO.

Good Luck smile.gif

When I saw your projector a few months ago.. the quality of it is what inspired me to attempt my own. I can't wait to play GOW in 1080p.

You will not get 1080p out of the Norwood. THe norwood is 1280x800.
1080p would require a true WUXGA LCD (1920x1200) which is quite a bit more money.

I saw you're using the norwood. How do you like it and where did you get it? I've only come across 1 on ebay and the guy wants 150+ shipping..

So after reading some reviews, and searching I could not find the norwood monitor. I went with the X2GEN LCD.

Ordered Parts:
X2GN MW15A 15.4" From Ecost

and the ffc extenters as mentioned by computercowboy in this thread
http://www.lumenlab.com/forums/index.php?s...mp;#entry184488

WM10242-ND and WM7710CT-ND from digikey.com

Now just the fresnels, ballast and lens... eek.. I cant wait till this is all done. Is it cheaper to get the lighting kit from a local electricians store or home depot?

I tried looking on ebay for a 18" beseler, i didnt see any.. any other places I can order one from?

Waiting for 18" Beseler & Fresenels
Should be heading to lowes this weekend hopefully for wood and lexan.

So I've built the frame for the Fresnels. Just waiting to strip the LCD. Does anyone have any good instructions on striping this X2GEN monitor? Also, I think I have this right. The only value im missing is the Triplet FL. I'm using an 18" Beseler.

From what I see the box needs to be 349mm from the triplet to the lcd. How much extra space is needed between the lcd and light kit?

The reason it is called an 18 inch beseler is because the focal length is 18 inches (AKA 457.2 mm).
That will radically change the LCD to triplet distance.
