We have this optical comparator at work. Does pretty much the exact same thing as a RPTV does. The only diffrence is instread of the LCD you put parts on it and it shows the outline of them. So anyways. I was messing around with it the other day. Tring to take a picture of what was on the screen. The only problem was the screen on it is fogged to stop some of the light. But alot of light still makes it threw the screen and kills any picture you are tring to take of it. It also has a huge hotspot on the screen.

So i had this idea. We have this film we use in our plotters. Its a Matt Finish Film. I put some of that on the screen and it seemed to block the light from coming threw and erased the hot spot.

So maybe this stuff would work for a RPTV Screen. If anyone wants to try it let me know and i will ship you a peice of it. I have it in 36" Wide X how ever many feet you need.

Sure, why not, I'll test it. I would need 36" x 48". Just to clarify, you are takling about a white "film" that can be rolled up, right?
Smackre
Yes it is originaly on a roll. I would start with a peice of glass and put this on the front of it. It prolly wont be any better than things we have tested b4. But if we dont try it. We will never know.

Ok. Are you in the U.S.? I am asking because I am currently using this sort of drafting film, white and matte on both sides, for my rear projection, and I am very happy with the results. The light diffusion ability of the film I am using is incredible. Now, I am located in Canada, and the manufacturer of the drafting film I use is also located in Canada... I have had questions from people in Europe and in the U.S. wanting to buy the same material, but I couldn't really help them. Therefore, I wouldn't mind comparing my film material with yours, see if I get similar results.

I am in the US. This film is made for thermal plotters. Made by calcomp.

i tested it about a year ago with fairly good results, i can not find the pics, but here is a link to the Drafting Mylar that was used by another member.

I use double matted at work for plats to be filed to the city in deed and plat records.

Whats the deal with an old RPTV screen. Will it work? Also the one i have has a fresnalin it, did I hear somewhere else here that if the fresnal was removed it would work?
Smackre
Yes i still have this. But i dont want to go selling it without knowing weather it is a good product or not. Id much rather send it to someone and have them try it out. I would but i dont have a projector.
Smackre
Why dont you pm me your address lesavoir and i will send you a peice to try out. If it works i could supply people in the states with it if they wanted.

I was curious how this worked out?
