I'm using the ICECAP 250w HQI ballast.
Question #1:
Should I position mine closer to the lcd since it runs cooler or is that a rumor???

Question #2:
Do I still have to use the piece of glass ??

Quesiton #3:
Will my light source be adequate to "light" my projector?

Question #4:
I should only allow the triplet lens to be moved back 2 in??

Question #5:
My *%$#ing ballast is HUGE. Where should I mount it? On the out side of the box??

You're mounting the bulb that far away from the fresnel/LCD not because of the heat, but because that's how far the collector (rear) lense needs to be from the bulb to be in focus with it.

Better safe than sorry.

What size LCD are you using? If you plan on using a 7" no problem. I'd worry about the larger monitors, however.

No, 1 inch back, 1 inch forward.

Preference, but I would make the box so that ballast fit inside. Do you want a huge box for your projector and then have to worry about huge ballast to lug around with it?

There, I hope those are the right answers.

I will be using a 15 in. lcd, possibly a smaller one. I also plan on using a reflector with my light kit. Will the ballast do it any justice??? The guys on
http://allinbox.com/allinbox.htm almost all used 250 HQI kits with there projectors. That's why I thought it would do.

allinbox.com has builders slightly more skilled in metalwork than we do, which results in some awesome looking boxes. Great site for box ideas.
