Over a year ago I removed the bulb side antiglare and polarizer from my CMV 522A. In the process I must have marked up the opposite (triplet) side. These tiny marks, and one scratch are visible in the projected image.

Has anyone had any luck removing similar marks from the triplet side of the LCD? What about removing the TAC on this side of a CMV or Westinghouse panel?

I have a CMV 520D, and I removed both polars and replaced with SHC polars. This solved my glowie problems and also made for better black levels. The TAC/polars came up easy, just lifted an edge with a hobby knife and peeled it off.

I would rather not have to remove the other polar.

My fresnels are in the split configuration, so am I correct in assuming I would have to replace the triplet side polar with one located between the LCD and front fresnel? I have a spare polar piece big enough to cover the triplet, but not a fresnel.

I'm pretty sure you can put the (front) polarizer anywhere between the LCD and the screen, including inside the triplet. You might take a look at the SHC polarizer thread, not sure which section it's in.

Yes there should be a TAC layer on the triplet side. A 2-3 hour soak is usually all it takes to get off a TAC layer.

Yes, there was a TAC layer, and it came off after soaking for 26 hours (CMV panels take longer).
Everything's great! All the scratches and marks were on the TAC! smile.gif
