I currently have a BenQ 557s sitting here as my second monitor, I planed on using it for my projector. But the more I read about HDTV and what not I have begun to wonder.
Would this be the way to go?
15" LCD TV

Or would going with a 15.4 x2gen be the way to go to get 720p HD to my monitor. I hear that it should fit in a standard box, but Ill have to get bigger fresnels?

by the time I get the bigger fresnels it might just be easier to go with the TV. Though the x2gen has better specs. Can someone help me?

Beware...many of the 'HDTV's' in 15" aren't-really (some just scale HD to same-rez as yours -- while offering more input-choices).
Regardless, the X2Gen has 1280*800 (and better refresh-rate than the Proview I have in TradingPost)...but all the 15.4 monitors have 'some issue' (depending on tailored-source) with scaling/stretching with 720P. For proper 1080i/p, one then looks to a 15.4"/wuxga lappy-screen (which would easily replace any 15.4" X2Gen setup -- when you can 'afford' better-panel/controller). But 'yes', you then are looking at added expense/sizing for 18"EFL or Pro lenses (depending on 'throw') and pricey-fresnels, and perhaps limited lamping/light-path options.
I understand your 'dilemma' [been there! <g>].
My 'answer' was the 10.6" Samsung-route (in SmallPanel section). Best of both-worlds, methinks -- true 720P, without all the 'other issues'.
Also, consider 17"&19"...they can also deliver HD, and with same-components as any 15.4 (just 'hugerer'<g>).

Thanks Hap. I figured that the Tv would scale, dose it look that bad though? I have never seen a 15" with HD scaled on it. I wont be watching alot of HD, I just want to be able to watch digital channels from my cable box mostly.

I would have gone with a 17", should have I suspose. But I have a 15" box coming from Tescorp now. I guess Ill just see how much I use this one Im building and see about upgrading later.
Thanks again
