Im pretty new to the projector building process. It seems to me that it would not be possible to use an LCD from a laptop since it would be difficult to connect it to a TV scaler or dvd player ect... Is this correct?

I would think that with the input problem you mentioned, it makes it very, very difficult (if not impossible) to incorporate into this sort of project.

It would be great if you could (I have tons of these laying around)... but you cant.. :-(

In theory you could just remove the backlight and the plastic cover that covers the rear of the backlight and keep the LCD connected to the rest of the laptop. Scilicone the LCD pannel to the plastic frame. Mount the whole laptop inside the box. Hookup some wireless keyboard/mouse, audio out to your sound system, along with providing access to a DVD player in the laptop and you would have everything you need.
