Very small rails, would be ok for light engraving, or PCB work, I would not waist my time on it.

but that is my own opinion.

make something a little more beefed up to start.

Thanks. Did you see they where charging $20.00 dollars for the plans?

Look at Make Magazine also.

Joe,

How much work would it be to mod your machine to take a full 49"x97" sheet of MDF? Would your plans be able to be "stretched" to make the larger machine like you did on your previous one to make your current larger one?

Would all the rest of the parts still fit? but have bigger frame, etc?

Project for the next few weeks is a homemade lathe.. why buy when you can build? smile.gif

Thanks Jason

A Larger table like that I would use metal construction. I am currently working on a 4'x4' metal machine that can be stretched out to 8'.

Do you have pictures or drawing of the lathe?

I actually broke down last night and bought a 37" lathe here for $137 cdn (on sale, reg $279).. but I am going to use it temporary while I build the homemade one with some more mods then sell the storebought one smile.gif
