I ordered the lense kit today and I woud like to build a wide screen projector. Can I use a 17" wide screen lcd tv with the 1017 pro kit. The Lumenlab store states that it will work on 15" - 19" widescreen. Is this correct? Or will it only work with a 15" lcd? If it will work I will need to find a 17" wide screen lcd that is compatible with this project. I will need a lcd that has component inputs so I can recive hdtv channels through my cable box. Can any one recomend one to me? Or dose any one have one they would like to sell?

The lenses will work well with a 17" widescreen. For the panel, we are all in the same boat when it comes to 17" panels; nobody knows much about them because we are just getting into using them. If you find a panel you're interested in post it here so we can discuss its virtues and shortcomings.

BTW, remember that a widescreen 17'' as the same width as a .294mm 19''.

iam also looking at using a 17" monitor for my pj
it is the benq fp767-12 which i think has good specs
1280x1024dpi
res time 12ms
contrast 500:1typical with a max of 600:1
pixel pitch .264
what do you think of this
also does anyone have the dimensions for a 17" pj box and what is the FL so i know where to place the lens

Also ck out the Samsun SyncMaster 712n 17" LCD
Same specs as BenQ but with rebates (expiring this sat) it's about $380.
I looked at one up close and found it to be very small frame (easier to strip and less FFC issues?) and the image quailty was very good (compared with my 19" Sony CRT).
I'm also interested in the 17" LCD box size changes...

i had a look on the samsung website it said that the 712n is now discontinued and the benq still seems to have a faster response timing and a high contrast level
because of the increase length required for the 17" i am thinking of having a vertical box using a mirror to project the image out of the side, using brains diagram as a guide, i assume the distance for the lcd placement from the lamp will be the same as in the 15" pj as a focal length is not required. the diagram also has the legnth required for the box so it seems the remainder is the focal length.
hope to start the project soon once iam confident on knowing the lengths required
and placement of the lens and lcd

it could be that samsung still have stock but they are stopping production soon
the cost if the benq is $605 australian which is way more than you could pick one up in the u.s. we only get 71cents for 1 u.s dollar plus i have found u.s products are alot cheaper even after conversion .lucky you
