Tv Tuner
myHD MDP-130
Processor
Core 2 Duo E4300 (will be released Jan 21, should be a beast of an overclocker)

This is going to be used as an upconverting dvd player and tune up QAM stations for the tv as well. Comments are welcome. What do you guys think?

go with either the Saphire X1600 HDMI/HDCP (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102069) or Asus 7600 HDMI/HDCP (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814121028). Both offer numerous connections (VGA/HDMI/DVI) and are both HDCP compliant. I know that the 7600 is louder, so you would have to invest in an aftermarket fan like a Zalman7700, which I'm not sure if you can afford to lose the space in your build. I couldn't, so I went with the Saphire and its not loud at all.

What about these two ATI cards
X1900GT with HDCP
or
X1650XT with HDCP

from a little reading it seems that the 1900 cards are huge. That may be problematic...
Ok actually after reading on the silverstone site the 1900 is out of the question.

I think I may have found the card though.
7900 GS HDCP

It doesn't have an HDMI output but HDCP enabled DVI is just as good due the fact that I run everything through a receiver that doesn't take HDMI and DVI to HDMI for my TV is no biggie. Any other comments or help so far?

Question...
I'm still relatively new to coming to grips with this HDCP stuff. Would having a video card with HDCP be of any benefit if going to a regular (non-HDCP) monitor via DVI? If not, what is the best I can hope for in picture quality with a standard 17" monitor with DVI?

the only benefits you would see with HDCP is future proofing. it allows for a"secure" connection between your video card and monitor. HD DVD and blueray will require this to play there discs as well as a lot of vista content apparently. there is no quality difference between HDCP and non-HDCP connections. sorry about the bad grammar, I have had 1 too many white Russians tonight smile.gif
