I've been in the search for a video converter that would do everything I wanted, but that doesn't seem to exist, and the partial alternatives don't look great. So I'm trying to find out what it would take to get this in a computer. Here are my goals:

1. Upconvert DVD to display at XGA (and eventually higher resolutions) in the proper widescreen format (not stretched).
2. Properly display my HD feeds from Comcast.
3. Upconvert regular TV to fit the monitor (I can get this from component).
4. Upconvert video games from component (some that run in 480i) to fit the screen.

It would also be nice to be able to do this with either VGA or DVI. Is this feasible, or am I asking for too much? Thanks for any help that anyone can provide.

This is a tall order for a box, BUT you could do this with an auto switcher running HDMI inputs and converting the sources before they get to the box. I think PartExpress had some new HDMI switches that came in last week. Start there and see where it takes you.

Good luck

I have one of these and it works pretty well you can read the specs. I used froogle and found one for 100$
