I ordered a cheap 480p DLP projector yesterday. I didn't even get it yet, but i'm already concerned about the lamp life. It is 2000 hours normal and 3000 hours economy. The bulb costs 250 bucks (and i cant even find it online anywhere, forget about it in 2 years from now!) Is there a way to have a projector use a different lamp when the time comes to replace it, perhaps like the one the eVo uses?

My fear is that I won't use my new projector as much as i'd like due to the lamp situation. If i have a cheap one readily available, ill use it much more often

Thats the problem with commercial projectors. Yeah you might find a great deal on one but they are gonna get that money back 10 fold by way of the bulb replacements. Thus the era of DIY was created, which is what LumenLab is here for.

Always good to research a product before you make a purchase...

So there's no way to just use a different bulb? Something i can get for cheaper?
