Hello all, newbie here, i've built myself a lcd projector using the simple ohp method (+fcc extension). All is well apart from the brightness of the picture. The ohp i'm using is only 250W.

Inside the ohp is the bulb and a spare which can be toggled with a switch. I did think of somehow putting them both on a once to get a 500W source. Is this reasonable?

I also have just acquired a proper projection bulb from a proxima projector. Bulb Serial Number. The bulb seems to be expensive, does that actually mean good. If so could I use this instead of my projector bulb even though its 150W. I have no idea how to actually power it up though, could I just connect it to the projector power source with is probably 240V? Are any specs available?

My question, which method would give the best resulting picture, and how could I go about connecting either idea up. I'm not afraid of getting my hands dirty and have a reasonable amount of electrical experience.

The proxima lamp will not work in the OHP and needs a special ballast to run because it is a MH lamp. It is a vary nice lamp just not for an OHP.

The OHP may have two lamps but is there a lever to flip to move the spare lamp into place? Does it have a prism inside?

I take it you want more brightness from the OHP. There is a 410 watt halogen reflector lamp and a HMI 575 watt MH lamp but there is lot of mods th make the 575 HMI work.

I would do some reading in the forms to better understand what types of light systems we all use.
