i will be using the ushio s400dd bulb and a piece of glass between it and the fresnel.

my question is will the uv from the bulb turn my screen color yellow.

if i need to protect it from the uv is there a film that can be applied like window tint?

Lumenlab used to sell a UV blocking adhesive film and it may be found elsewhere these days.

There's a fair degree of debate regarding the necessity of UV blocking.

Most folks use a UV blocker. Some don't. In the end it's gotta be your decision.

This topic goes into it a fair amount.

Just use a piece of Lexan XL10 as a heat barrier instead of the Glass and you will have UV protection.

Will also be optically clearer that most glass, too

I'm not sure how thick XL10 is as I can't get it here, but it would be a standard size. I'm using a laserlite product that does the same thing and it's 3mm.

Just make sure you put the side with the sticker or label saying something like "this side towards sun" towards your lamp. This sounds pathetically obvious, but I only mention it because once when I used the laserlite on a patio a few years ago I took the sticker off before I put the laserlite up, and couldn't remember which side was which!
