I jumped the gun on a LCD purchase off eBay. It was a 9100 replacement screen. I knew I wanted to build a 1080P projector and I had read a few posts mentioning this particular LCD. However, I should have read up on it more. I've since learned that getting a proper controller for this LCD isn't going to be an easy task. Apparently there aren't any more group buys going on for the controller I need. Dobie Huang tells me it will cost an additional $100 on top of the standard G2A controller cost to get the bios set up properly. And it will take 6-8 weeks to do so.

So what are my other options considering I won't be able to return the LCD?

That monitor works with the G2A130, I know because I have that monitor and the G2A.

Take a look at my plog.

If I wanted Component, do you think the G2A210 would work?

Doesn't the BIOS need to be changed on either the G2A130 or G2A210?

Natural Newbie - Where did you get your controller card from?

Are there any other options for the LCD I have aside from the G2A controllers?

Did you need to remove the Anti-Glare coating from the Samsung LCD or the Synaps you originally started with? I see you had some issues. How would you recommend beginning the anti-glare removal process?

How easily is this LCD stripped? Are there photos I can reference?
Natural Newbie
We can assume the G2A210 should work, since it is suppost to work with the same monitors the G2A130 works with.

I got the controller card from Dobie Huang, His contact info is in the Q&A or FAQ for the wuxga , they are both sticked, don't remember where they are at though. You can try searching his name on the forums.

There was a thread discussing other possible controller boards, I did not follow them however.

You don't need to remove the antiglaire, it just adds brightness and clairity when it is gone. If you read in my plog you will learn about my anti glaire adventures and troubles. There is a stripping guide somewhere also, search search search wink.gif

What is the thing that actually makes a board compatible with an lcd? These special controller boards in the manuals, such as the kontron, it says "plug and play" So, shouldn't it work?

No it won't work. The bios has to be programed with the clock/timings of the LCD. The controller manufacturer will program it with some of the more common Lcd's but it's hit or miss.

Perhaps I am inept when it comes to searching these forums, but I have not been able to find a guide for stripping the model LCD that I have. This is (http://www.lumenlab.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=15376) the closest bit of information I can find and it's not as detailed as I'd hope it would be. Perhaps it is much simplier than I expect and I should just go ahead and do it. I guess I'm afraid of breaking something - especially when peeling the tape off in the area where it says "DO NOT TOUCH THE WHITE TAPE SENSITIVE AREA".

This is what I have so far after removing it from the 9100 Laptop Bezel

From what I understand so far, the circuit board at the bottom of the LCD is the "Inverter" board. Which, and correct me if I'm wrong, won't be needed if I use the G2A controller.

And then at the top of the LCD is the board with the connector that will hook up with the G2A controller. I understand when folding it away from the LCD, I need to be careful of the flexible flat cables that connect it to the actual LCD panel.

Regarding the cable that connects the main board at the top to what I believe is the inverter board, can I use this to connect to my controller? Or is the controller going to include a cable? I've also read that some people need to buy FFC extension cables. I assume this is to have more flexibility when mounting the controller card.

No you don't use that cable or the inverter. You will remove them both.

The G2a will come with a cable for connecting the Lcd to the controller.
