I completed this projector last year but couldnt be bothered to show the results. I am now in the process of gathering information and measurements for my next build which will be a 17" longthrow Projector so that i can sit it behind my sofa.

Anyway, please have a look at what i have achieved using the standard Lens kit with 15" monitor.

It measures around 98.4 inches diagonal, i can go bigger if i had a bigger screen and move the screen further away. At the moment its too close to the projector at 2.2meters from the Projector lens to the screen.

I have noticed some people are using 330/330 Field and Condenser Fresnels and a different Pro triplet lens, can someone tell me how this compares to the LumenLabs pro kit (220/650 Fresnels & 500 Pro triplet) in terms of the quality of the image projected?.

Many thanks for those who can help me.

Hmmmm, very newbie question....

Really nice images but what are you using to run your images to the xbox? Design is simple but it looks great.

i'm in the process of building the simple box such as you have an your results are encouraging. I am worried about removing the AG on my panel and was wondering if you removed it from yours? I also want to use the "drawer" style focusing mechanism such as you have..do you have any advice for this type of system? I am assuming it gives greater flexibility in where you can place the box and for me I'm thinking I don't have to be as precise on the box measurements (front fresnel to triplet) if I have several inches of play with a drawer type box smile.gif.

Hello. I am interested in building an projector myself ...considering the great results I've witnessed by your forum and many others. Of all of 'em ....that I have seen soo far ....you're has the best results or it at least looks like it.

I have a bunch of questions for you ...

1.) How does the image look in lighter conditions w/ 1 or 2 lights on?

2.) How much did this project cost or what's the projected cost if you had to purchase everything?

3.) Is this mainly from a kit? If so, what kit is it?

4.) What model of Mugen 15" monitor did you use?

5.) Does the video look smooth?... I am considering to mainly use my projector for gaming but I'll use it occasionally for movies and internet.

6.) If this project is within my budget, I'll definately like to know what you did and how?

I would be greatly appreciative with a response to my questions. In return, when I complete or start my project I'll keep you updated ....and have pics. smile.gif

sweet..you are one of the inspirations for me to remove my AG so I can make my projector the best that it can be. My box will be very similar to yours except I will use a wall wart to power the fans and mount my coil ballast on the back of the projector with a cage around it.

Removing the AG for this monitor was more difficult than my last one i did. I soaked it and left it over night for about 8 hours and then started peeling it i got to about 20% and decided to soak it longer as it wasnt peeling properly. After another 4 hours i started peeling it and it came off quite easily. I should have waited that extra 4 hours and peeled it all off in one go, because i didnt the monitor still had some glue stain which i had to remove by using my wifes nail polish removal. Cut long story short, yes its difficult if you dont have steady hands and if you dont soak it long enough. I suggest peel a little bit of the corner first to see how well it comes off, if its not budgign at all or quite hard still then soak it longer.

Yes, it is a great idea to build the focus mechanism like mine, because it easy and it works. Its quite simple to make so i dont think you will have a problem. Just as long as you make it so that you have enough movement for focus, hope you know what i mean.

1. Image looks very good if you place a light behind the screen, if the light is infront of the screen then its not so good but still watchable. I have 3 lights, one behind screen, one infront, and one to the left side of the screen. I will post a picture with lights on when i get the chance.

2. It cost me around £400... This includes The projector parts and tools like a jigsaw, router.

3. No, i built it from scratch using Lumenlabs basic design manual.

4. Monitor is a DELL 15" my nickname is Mugen, i cant remember the model.

5 Gaming looks awesome, i play warcraft and some Xbox games on it.

6 My advice is to browse the forum and read through some of the topics thats how i have learnt to understand how everything works. There are a lot of guys on this forum who are very good, im sure they can help u too. Read the Lumenlab basic design manual, it help very much.

Good Luck m8...

Are any of your games kind of too dark with X2VGA2? And what system do you have hooked up, is it the Xbox?

Theres a switch on the X2VGA which allows it to be in dark or bright mode, i dont know what its called. I leave it on bright because it worked better with my monitor. I dont know if its the same for all monitors. Yes its hooked up to the Xbox. I use it to play racing games and watch movies using Xbox media centre.

ok i have yet to start my DIY projector but i am really interested in your neoya thing i want to primarly play playstation 3 and watch movies and the occational tv. i was wondering if that box would take the place of a controller and would it be able to support or pass through HD because i really want to watch blu ray and play hd games..
