Hello to everyone:

I just bought the guide, I have ordered bulb, ballast, and lenses, and I'm looking for a very cheap lcd.

I spotted these little 7" LCD televisions on eBay for 109 dollars (with "Buy It Now"):

Before I try to research contrast ratio, refresh rate, etc, I was hoping you guys could do me a favor and just shoot down any chance of my using this LCD. I've always said, "you get what you pay for," but maybe this is a real bargain? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and take care!

P.S.: This is my first post, so please forgive me if I put this message in the wrong place!

The main thing is the resolution, which isn't listed.

Brain, after reading up on your own 7" projector project, I've decided to build the larger project first, since it's already been built with great results, and many others have followed with similarly impressive results. I don't want to melt my brain thinking about using mirrors to fold light paths, etc.

Quick question: if I decide to use a 14" or 13" lcd, will I have to cut the frensels at all, or can I just use them "out of the box?"

Thanks for your help!

You don't have to cut them, but most people would to decrease the box size. Check with me for the specs of the panel you want to use...it's best to go with something decent and save yourself some regret later..

I went with a 13" lcd. It works great. You don't have to cut the fresnels at all.

I decided to keep all the dimensions the same, so that if I upgraded to a 15" LCD in the future, I could.

The larger monitors generally have better resolution, better specs, and better price/performance. The best price/performance is probably with 17" monitors right now.
