Hello all! It's been quite awhile since I've been here. My Pj has been out of service for about a year while I've been remodeling half of my attic into a home theater room. It seems to have developed a problem while sitting inactive. The picture darkens from time to time. It will then get brighter again only to dim again several minutes later. It does not do this at regular intervals but somewhat randomly. It's much more visible on dvds than on TV. The light engine itself seems to be fine as I notice no darkening when the pj runs without any source material (plain white screen). Since the darkening occurs on both tv (thru aver tv box 9) and dvd's (older Panasonic unit) That rules out either of these components. Which leaves the lcd. I used a CMV 520d 15" unit. I thought initially that it may be a heat related problem as my pj runs a bit hotter than I'd like at about 98 F. I don't think that this is the problem though because it begins very soon after turning the projector on and before it reaches peak heat. It acts almost like a voltage drop in my dc adapter for the lcd. My projector has a Haas Style case with a drawer that houses most of the wiring, including the coil and core ballast for the Venture pulse strike lamp kit I used, as well as the afore mentioned adapter. This drawer is not actively cooled, but it does have a couple of vents drilled in each side to allow heat to escape . I haven't done any final tweaking yet and have not really ripped anything apart to look for the source of this particular problem. I'm interested in seeing if anyone out there has had any similar problems or has any insight. Thanks in advance for your help.
