Anyone have a good solution for running basically 3 monitors on a computer? I've got a dual output nvidia running 2 17" lcd's and horizontally spanning my desktop. To add the projector in for now I've been putting the monitors into clone mode and setting nvidia's mirror setting to full screen any video on the secondary monitor. Then I swap the cables from the second lcd to the projector. I was thinking of a simple vga switch but not sure about the quality of the signal unless i get a digital one. Maybe a second video card? Then maybe running powerstrip to force the native resolution of the projector. (or even just push out whatever resolution and let the projector scale it) Ideas?

id get a second video card, especially if you can use a SLI configuration

probably not going to bother with SLI but it's a good idea.

is there anyway to tell the video card to not process the output stream being handled to it? that way you could buy a cheap low power card and let the projector handle the scaling. if I tell my wife I need another $100 for this project she's going to, well, she'll do something i'm sure. I've said too much..... lol

well, the video card does alot more than just scaling and resolution. If you use a cheap/low power card, youre going to get a cheap/low quality image. If SLI isnt an option, then i wouldnt bother with a secondary card unless you have an extra AGP or PCI-E slot on the motherboard.

Newegg has a few good VGA splitters for under $50, so i would probably lean torwards those

i've got some pci-e slots available. Starting to think it would be better to dedicate a different pc strictly for htpc purposes. I'll look at newegg too. thanks.

Just add a video card that hooks up via pci slot - somewhat old school but I hooked it up on my computer for dual monitors.. my video cards each support only 1 output

Well, I've got a dual output nvidia geforce in it right now for the two monitors. I suppose I could go with another card for dedicated projector feed.

I'm having a larger problem right now of just getting the output to match the native resolution of the projector. I"ve got hd rips in 720p but it's not matching. Powerstrip should take care of that right?

Does most everybody clone their desktop and then go fullscreen or do you use the fullscreen option in your nvidia drivers?
