I would assume that if I make the vertical projector thinner than the basic design found in this forum (joe20000chevys design) that I would have to make the box taller since the center point would be different...?

from what I see the center point for the triplet would have to be higher sad.gif am I assuming correctly?

I drew up some plans but left them @ work so I have attatched a crude paint sketch lol the 4.3" is based off of the standard design.

You are correct you can make the design a bit smaller in size by removing the ballast from the bulb section. You would then have to place it on the bottom which would give you a bit more height and your footprint would still be small. I was able to make a vertical design using only a 7"x4" fs mirror reflecting into my triplet. One thing you can't trim down on too much is the space for the bulb unless you are using one of the smaller double ended bulbs.

You really don't want to place the ballast too close to the bulb although the magnetic ones seem to be more sturdy than the electric ones.

Keep positing pics of your diagrams someone will be sure to point out anything you need to correct.

These are just a few pics from my 250watt built to just about the size of the fresnel.

You can get away with using a realy small fs mirror.

Using a larger fs mirror and moving the bulb down could have possibly given me a pj maybe about 24" tall.
Measure twice cut once though I've killed alot of plywood over the last year.

the mirror I will be using will be 10x8 I think...I think I am just getting too hung up on possibilities and not focusing on facts. I will be placing the electronic ballast as well as switches and etc behind the mirror, thats why I am opting for a box instead of the angled top like the original plans.

My only concern is with the smaller mirror and tighter space, will I be too close with too small of a mirror...I dont think I will be, but who knows lol. I dont have any tools really so will have lowes cut the MDF. If I fail with the first design it will be $40 wasted lol which I suppose isnt too bad.....

I thik if I move the lens up a half an inch with my dimensions I can then be ok..... I dunno yet I will be using a mock face on the front to test with as I would like to get the lens up higher to project just a little higher so I need less keystone adjustment but still have the same height box.
