Hello
I posted some of the Pics from our Theater Install, mainly because xiopod wanted to see them. This is the theater that my Dad and I are building ourselves. Feel free to comment.

Judging from that one picture, I really like the flooring and lighting.

nice pics! lets us know if you upload more.

It looks like your theater is coming along nicely. Don't hang your screen until everything is done. I put mine up right after building my PJ and now I watch too many movies and nothing gets done to my room laugh.gif

btw, thats a nice stack of equipment! what type of speakers are they? they look cool, i assume they sound good tongue.gif

edit: you may want to move this to the HLOG section

Hi
The speakers are made by Martin Logan. They are electrostatic. This is why I am using the sunfire amp. It was one of the only ones capable of supplying enough power to run electrostatic. I think each speaker runs about 4 ohms. The Sunfire amp can put out about 800W per channel at 4 ohms. The amazing this is that this amp can output 1200W temporally at 2 ohms!!! (I wonder if it can arc weld? wink.gif ) The unit is the TGA-7400. The amp is rather interesting because it has 2 types of outputs for the front right and left. It has the regular output and something that they call Current Source which is supposed to make the amp sound like a tube amp. My Dad chose all the equipment. This was kind of a retiring gift that he got for himself. I am helping him hook it up and build out the room. We are currently running the test system with only the front speakers hooked up and the sound is AMAZING. We did not hook up the rear because it is wall mounted. The models are listed below:

Center: Stage
Rt/Lft: Vantage
Rear(not pictured): Script I
Sub: Descent

All I know is this audio system should last us for the next 20 years.

P.S. If you want it moved to another section, please go ahead and move it or tell me how to. I have never needed to move a post yet. Also, if you want more pics just tell me what you want. I did not want to upload too many because I would have overloaded my flickr account.

Edit: I researched the amp a bit and it uses a technology called Tracking Downconverter. This allows the amp to generate very little heat while running. The thing only needs its case as a heat sync, no need for those huge metal fins. A full writeup can be found on sunfire's site. (It sounds like I work for sunfire smile.gif ) Anyway, if you can find a store with this stuff, lock your self in the demo room and watch a move, you may literally have to lock your self in to watch the movie in peace.

The room looks nice.
What type of seating do you plan on using?

Thanks

To answer your question, we just got the seats. LOL. They are made by Berkline. The photos are on Flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/thedeepfryedboot/

Please comment, I really like to hear peoples thoughts. Also, I do like constructive criticism. Thanks

Edit: I also posted pictures of the remote that I am going to be using. It is called the MX 3000. I am going to have it transmit RF to a receiver behind those closet doors. All I need to do now is figure out how to program it.

The wires...umm..zip ties and the ever so trustworthy duct tape, LOL. Actually the cabinet we have has channels that I put in the back for the high/low voltage wires.

Oh, and the remote, that thing is becoming a major pain to program. The software is very confusing. If anyone has any tips on programming a MX3000 please PM me.
ToddtheUberGamer
ah, gotta love the duct tape.

and ya that sux with the remote programming confusion.

Ya, I plan on getting some more photos up soon. There is just nothing going on in there at the moment. I am stuck with the delema of how to rack mount things in a small cabinet, the projector wont be out until late April and I have too much work. I am thinking of getting the space invader wall stickers from thinkgeek and sticking them in the blue square where the screen should go. Then I would have something to look at when I sit in the chairs. I love just sitting in them. smile.gif
