I want to know if its possible to modify an older lcd projector and use the inards with my own lamp. it seems a shame, i bought this thing on ebay, the lamp only lasted like 2 months being used. the lamps for it cost almost $400. I would like to take the halogen lamp out of my overhead projector and put it in the casing of the Proxima projector, use the video interfaces and fan etc of the proxima projector. Is this possible? I'm new to this stuff so i'm inexperienced. I already stripped a 15inch lcd monitor and put it on the overhead but there is a ribbon connecting two boards, on on the left side of the panel and on the bottom so it gets in the way of the projection path... but the quality is still impressive.

have you ever installed a bulb like that into a projector? can you help me? i've never done that before, is there anywhere i can find some kind of instructions how?

No, I haven't. Sorry. From what I understand, it's somewhat new territory though I've definitely come across a few reports of success. Best to post over diyaduio at that seems to be where the action is on this kind of thing.
