Well...I know that I am supposed to plog as i go; however, I wanted to build opposed to type!

I could not locate any 17" Haas design templates...so...if anyone needs advise or measurements; please feel free to post. Eventually, I will put together some type of general build schematic.

Anyhow, I chose the Haas design because I feel that the case has a more attractive look. I chose a 17" design simply for the resolutions and longer throw range.

Overall, the build is slightly more complex than originally expected. If you are crafty in any way, this build is not difficult.

Parts Below:

- Pro Lens Kit (Lumenlab) - $249
- 1703FP LCD 400:1 @ 16ms (Ebay) - $150
- 400W Metal Halide Bulb (Wesco) - $25
- Ballast Kit W/ Capacitor / Mogul Base (Wesco) - $80
- Dense MDF Board 3/4" 4X8' (Home Depot) - $20
- Misc. Wood Glue / Adhesives (Home Depot) - $20
- Project Board 1/8" 4X8' (Home Depot) - $10
- 120VAC to 12VDC Power Supply (Tanner Electronics) - $12
- Misc. Switches / Power Connectors (Tanner Electronics) - $15
- 1/8" Lexan (Home Depot) - $20
- Fiberglass Epoxy Resin (Home Depot) $10
- Sheet Metal (Home Depot) - $15
- Misc. Wood / Dowels Ect... (Home Depot) - $20

- Total - $646

The extra wood came in handy as additional work real-estate (Never Enough Workspace)

I have listed a few cons below to help future builders.

- Use 'Pine' and not MDF - MDF is messy in terms of cutting. It also breaks and chips much easier than Pine. It is also half the weight.
- Measure twice / cut once - Especially if you want to make good use of your time.
- Plan ahead - I cannot tell you how much extra crap I have bought at Home Depot (Not Listed Above) You think your plan will work only to realize it will not. Use known and trusted methods. Research!!!
- Take your time
- Test before final assembly

Enjoy!

Here are some recent pictures. These particular pictures do not do the Projector justice. I had to rig up a capture device because my PC does not have the SD reader. I used my PCTV USB Capture device to bring the pics in. I will post more tomorrow along with the build process.

And more.....

The screen 120" - so to fit the 16:9 ratio. It is just plain 'Flat White' paint.

I muded and sanded the wall before painting to ensure a smooth surface. I may play with some DIY projector screen material or paint mixtures.

This is a rough draft of my Alien case that I am also working on. Should be tight once it is completed!
