Hi all, I've been reading these forums for a couple months now and I think I'm ready (i.e. have enough money tongue.gif) to start building a projector. I'm currently leaning towards this monitor:

It's not on the compatible monitors list, but I really like samsung LCD's and the majority of the samsung's on the list have no problems so I'm hoping this one will be easy to strip. If anyone has any suggestions for a cheap easy to find equivalent I want a 17" LCD with 8ms response time and 1280X1024 or greater resolution.

I'm planning on going with a modified Haas style box with hard angles instead of curves to simplify construction. I'll probably use the LL pro lens kit but if anyone could point me to a triplet and fresnels that would work with a 17" and have the same throw as the standard that would be great.
Any suggestions are appreciated. Once I get a monitor and actually start I'll most this into a PLOG. smile.gif

I hate to bump my own thread but I need to suggetions for fresnels and triplet. I just noticed that LL is out of stock of one of the pro fresnels and I need another source for them. Can anyone give me suggestions on where to get fresnels and a triplet for a 17" monitor? thanks. smile.gif

If you like the Samsung 730B 17" LCD, I can sell you mine. I just bought it for $149.99, but have decided to buy a 19" widescreen instead for my projector. I will sell and ship it to you for the same price $149.99 if you want it, I'm going to post it in the trade forum though as well. I just got it on Tuesday, I took it out and plugged it in to make sure it worked, no dead pixels, great picture. PM me if you are interested.

Thanks for the offer, but I decided to go with the 740bx instead. It has DVI input and a higher contrast ratio, and I was able to get dissassembling pictures from another forum member. smile.gif
