In building my enclosure I referred to Rorshach's Drawing and The Lumenlab Guide a lot. cool.gif

I recommend using a 2 3/4 forstner bit, which I used. because the tripplet fit in the hole nice and snug. no need for felt or other stuff.

I've had had a few snags one especially; Previously I had just gotten done enclosing my Fresnels in glass and laid them on a shelf for the sealent to dry. When my sister and 3yr old nephew came over for a vist. While going over past times with my sister; I heard my 5 yr old son say " Eric is in your bedroom" immediatley afterwards I heard a CRASH!!!!!!!.. ohmy.gif and a wail of fear ( nephew unhurt biggrin.gif but the lenses thats another story sad.gif
Spent all day with alcohol cleaning the lenses hopefully the scratches from the broken glass is not to bad we'll see huh.gif .

Pictures to follow when I can get my camera to work. need to download drivers 40 megs on a dial up.

W00, how's it look?
Sean
The picture looks great!!!! The Box on the other hand, with many interuptions from my 5yr old son has a few things to be disired, measure once cut 4x, but with wood filler sand paper, and paint I'll make it look acceptable.

Recommendation for parents with young kids,do what I did, wait till your kids are asleep till you mess with the lcd, that was the only thing I was able to get done perfect.

Tescorp if you look closely at my focus box I had used 4 different types of wood because I had to go through my scrap pile after the measure once cut four times incident. wink.gif

Hey, great tip on the forstner bit. I've just ordered the lens kit and had been thinking about how to get the perfect circle.

Love the look of the focusing box, very unique. How do you like the BENQ 567s V2? That is looking more and more to be my LCD of choice. What are the inside dimensions of your box? I am building the box in my mind right now...not much space left in there so eagerly awaiting arrival of parts and pieces.

Congrats on yours!

Hi Sean, you are using the lumenlab Custom Fresnel Lenses (1003) arnt you? if so .......it would be WONDERFUL (i would love u forever) if you could measure the exact dimensions of the outside of it in mm (its actual physical size not just the usable size) and thickness....and the usable size too if u have time smile.gif

PS: im called Sean too. smile.gif

Halloween:

My neighbor hood is an older community being there is'nt any kids for trick or treating so for my family we plan if the weather is decent setting up the projector outside. and playing an appropriate child oriented horror movie that an 5 yr old and 9 yr old and any other kids in that may stop by be able to watch... any Ideas besides scooby doo, and disney's haunted house?
cccrum
Sorry - My 4 year old favorite horror movies (this week) - in no particular order..

1. Deep Blue Sea
2. Frankenstien (Boris Karloff version)
3. Young Frakenstien (year round movie)
4. Eight Legged Freaks
5. The FOG

But for "Normal Family viewing" try Monster's Inc.

what resolution is the output of the VGA ... most of the VGA DVD players Ive come accross have a resolution of 640x480 .. (that might be incorrect, but none the less still much lower than 1024x768) ...
Sean
I actually bought the the DVD player for the Progressive scan capabilities the Vga out was a plus. the output is 640x480 though I have been watching my movies through Vga out will later hook up the component to the N6 and see the difference. I have been impressed though with just VGA output of it.

That's my biggest fear with these VGA output DVD players - I don't think I've heard of any that go beyond 640 x 480.

I'm very curious to see how it compares with 480p into an N6 scaled up to the LCD's resolution.
Sean
Tonight I connected the Coby DVD player's component out to the N6 and the picture is very Crisp the colors are sharp and nice detail. One thing I did notce was some of the remote commands on the Coby's remote ran some of the N6's functions (ie input, power, channel, volume)

Now the advantage of the VGA output of the dvd is the portability, less equipment that I need to move around If I decide that I want to set the Projector in the Back yard for a Movie. And the Output is decent enough my guests will still be impressed.

Yeah, I'm running the same setup (component into N6) and find the results really good. Not quite as good as a HTPC, but I can definitely live with it.

It sounds like you're saying the VGA output is not as good as the component into the N6. Is that correct?
Sean
It looks like my monitor upscales the image nicely but with theCoby through component to the N6 I can fine tune the picture through brightness and contrast and color intensity

Yes the same thing happened with my Desay DVD player from CC. It took a while to figure it out....then I laughed about..... but what a PAIN !!

There are some that upscale the image through DVI. The resolution can be up to XGA. The downside... they can cost a pretty penny.

Upscales through DVI.

Today I picked up this work table from BigLots here in Virginia as my projector stand. It's stable and my projector fits on it nicely.
