Well, we're into the 21st Century, but my local electrical supplier ( in business since 1957,) has just told me that electronic ballasts are not available in Canada. He was surprised to learn of them, and then said that it is possible that they are not CSA approved. I told him about Canada Customs coming down hard on those who import them from (Lighting Unlimited) the States. So maybe that explains why. Similar to the ban on smoking but punitively tax cigarettes, eh ?

I know of several electronic ballasts that are CSA approved but the last time I checked CSA approval was not mandatory for selling this product in Canada. Also shipments via USPS don't seem to have to dreaded customs tax problem that UPS has, I don't know why.

Thanks, Brain, I guess I would be better off then including the ballast in with the rest of my order when the fresnels for the 17" LCDs arrive.

UPS will always attempt to declare their shipments so they can charge their ridiculous brokerage fees.
