My friend has a case of these left over from a contracting job and would like to get rid of them. I told him I could probably help him sell them. The mean lumens is only 20% lower than the eye, but the price is 50% cheaper wink.gif

i would not pay for it - because of the lower lumens - i already have kinda dark edges - on the other hand i will finally be putting in my reflector tonight

I guess if the original bulb was like $300 then I might buy a 50% cheaper bulb at the loss of some lumens... but when the existing bulb is less than $40 I don't think you can go wrong. I vote no.

Well, the way i see it is: if it was possible that i could purchase all of my pj parts at 50% cheaper and lose only 20% quality, then i'd have a great deal on my hands. Of course, being able to find all the pj parts at 50% will be pretty hard, but i gotta start somewhere ph34r.gif

Well, I don't think I would go cheap on say the lcd panel - you want as high a contrast ratio as possible with quick response time - a cheap panel will be lacking in both areas and you won't be happy with the washed out ghosting projected image. I also wouldn't go cheap on the optics - as in cannabilizing from a broken OHP. The optics may be scratched, or just plain substandard. In a nut shell, if you expect results similar to those posted and talked about in these forums, then you should use similar performing parts.

sorry blink.gif , I vote no. The cri at 65 is going to produce low color on a projected image. also the low lums won't alow you to produce to lare a picture.

hmm you and I are very different in our purchasing practices.

I on the other hand am willing to pay a few bucks more for the better product. For instance: I could have bought the Venture Uni-Form bulb/ballast kit from lighting unlimited, but instead I opted to pay more and get the Ushio bulb and wait to buy the more expensive electronic ballast separately. Also I decided to get the 4x more expensive lens kit than the standard kit because I knew it was a better lens.

To each his own...
