Hi, I am thinking to add a 120mm PC 12V fan to inside of my tv to prevent those STK chip from frying, however I don't wanted it to be on all the time, so I am thinking to have a splitor from the convgence IC board so I could connect the fan. However I don't know how to create a circuit to down convert a voltage. The IC board Power input is +20V & -20V & 2 Ground. Could someone draw me a small schematic so I could try, please.

Thank you

You might want to try doing a search for stereo cabinet fans. These are generally 110V and have heat sensors built into them to monitor the cabinet temp. Heat goes up, fan goes on. I specifically mention these because they are known to be very quiet. If you wanted to, you could use a simple bimetal fan control ( attic fans work great) and a simple fan. No need to leech power off you CIB and no need to worry about doing it right.

just my two cents...wink.gif

i search google and ebay for bimetal switch but come up nothing, could you give me some link for me to buy this switch

Try an attic thermostat from HD or Lowes...

My original post looked like this

(Asking questions seems to be what I have been doing so far, maybe I should try to help)

If you (like me) like to solder and build stuff this might be worth your time? It's a schematic
on how to build a fan speed adjustment that reacts on heat.

never tried this one but it looks simple and working clicky

I'll might build a pj controller once I'm done with my pj smile.gif

then I noticed that you know how to do this and all you needed was a L78S12CV voltage regulator
you probably would like the datasheet to go along with that

I can make an eagle drawing of how to use it if you like just PM me.

Sorry for not reading your post.

i jsut put a 12v 120mm fan to blow across everything, since its a cummlative heat, you can just have the air blow in the general direction of all the stuff including tubes, I also found it helpful to remove the seprator of the screen and mirror area and tronics so all the heat sises up into it, the mass of swirling air helps keep it really cool, now if you leave the back on, then you vent it out the back and block the other holes so itl draw all the hot air from top.. bla bla bla, you get the idea, yes you wil have light leakage in the back, but it never bothered me.... I jsut leave mine on, its really quiet... if not jsut toss in a relay... Your tv sounds like a sony...

*keeping tubes cool promotes longevity of phosphers...

dont let my poor spelling and grammer stear you off smile.gif
