In all his tests BOC seems the best to me so I don't see any improvement in paint, (at least his paint)

I agree with you loks that way

i some cases i agree and in other cases i do not...

our eyes... are often to drawn to brighter even though brighter is not necessarily visually correct.
there are things you have consider here...
- the first is that the BOC is in the sweet spot of each shot and therefore all the other panels have a slight handicap in that respect.
- 2nd, all the pics were likely focused directly centered on the BOC... which makes the other panels appear darker then they really are.

in the first 2 pics... i agree the boc appears to be better. it certainly, renders skin tones in a more pleasing way. the grey panels appear to add some dingyness to the skin tones.

the next 2 pics... in the pipe scene the BOC is washing out.... but appears to be the more correct one in the desert scene.

in all of the pics from the narnia family scene through the animated animals... the BOC is definitely washed out and incorrect for each of the scenes. the only time the BOC might be correct is in rendering the snow and skin tones on the elf. but the elf's hat, beard, and even his face lack so much definition that it's a trade off at best.

it's not until the professor scene with the glasses that the BOC lands on top again. after that, the theme remains the same... the BOC is too washed out each those scenes.

finally, it is a clear winner from 60% of center in controlled lighting scene.

if you really take a close look at these scenes... there's more than meets the eye. the boc while brighter is often too washed out for the scene, lacks contrast, and lacks dimension.

In my opinion, the BOC never looked better. It always looked washed out to me. I definately prefered "A" and "C" throughout. I'm not sure if it was due to the projector or the scenes, but the upper corners always looked dark and you couldn't see the details in the black.
