Hello,
Are there any known uses for the platen glass from the average "X" brand office copier? dry.gif
Pretty sure it's tempered glass. I don't know if it's IR or UV blocking. Our office copier glass had a small chip on it after a stapler fell from the shelf above it. The service man gave me the old unbroken glass. The glass appears to be almost 0.25 inch thick. smile.gif

Also what about the glass (not the lens or mirrors) from an OHP? IR or UV blocking?
Thanks!

office copiers are supposed to give a HELL lot of UV's out!

The anti-UV argentic layer (moistened with saliva it shimmers lilac) is electroconductive (commensurable with an ohmmeter).

I've been a copier tech for over 30 years now. Modern digital copiers use cold cathode tubes (similar to flourecent lights) to illuminate the original document, rather than the halogens that were used in the analog machines. If the copier is less than five years old, the glass probably offers little or no filtering.

Hello!
The copier was approx 10 years old, it is an older analog style with a bright halogen lamp.
I guess I need a piece of IR Heat Glass.
Thanks!

I used a piece of glass from a scanner for my heat shield (less than 5 yrs old). Works well.
