Hello everyone,
I've been looking through this site for about a year now, sitting here in Ireland checking up before I go to work, on my lunch breaks and as soon as I finish work and it's fantastic.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but, why has no-one built a PJ in the style of the Jawas Sandcrawler from Star Wars! Surely this has been thought of before me! There seem to be a lot of creative builders out there that could do this easily, if they even wanted it could be rc'd, moveable tracks and all! Please reply let me know what you think.

Well, actually, now YOU are honor-bound to build it!!! tongue.gif

That is a sweet idea, and must be done. smile.gif

This reminds me, I don't know if I saw this or just saw something that made me think of it, but...

I thought a PJ in the form of an Imperial AT-AT would be cool. The triplet could be in the "head" part and the legs could stand it at the proper height, and be adjustable for an angled throw. He'd be a bit "chubby," but it would still be the ultimate coolness. cool.gif

OMG I've been waiting for some kind of inspiration for proj. #3 and this is definately it

AT-AT is where I'm going

Thanks Votey

I've definitly thought of this before as well! If you made the whole thing proportionate to the size of the projector box then it wouldnt look chubby at all! In fact, it might even be the perfect height for a big screen that was maybe 12 feet across. The walker would stand perhaps 5 feet tall, making it the perfect height for such a screen without any keystoning.
And the deathstar would be HUGE!

I am still deciding in which final form mine will be.
I narrowed it down to a 'voight-kampf' inspired one including some moving parts for effect, a R2-D2 vertical or a Tie fighter hanging from the ceiling with some light 'leaking' from its Twin Ion Engines. smile.gif

I will start with just a box. Just to see if i am able to get a good projection. babysteps....

I'm about half way through my rectangular build, but I cant stop thinking about the Sandcrawler and I don't even like Star Wars that much anymore (Sorry)! R2 would be nice too though, could probably build a pc inside at the bottom as well.

Oh man... A vertical single-fold R2D2 projector (complete with fake battle scars) with integrated HTPC. Wireless LAN, keyboard, and mouse... laugh.gif NERDGASM! laugh.gif

complete with working hydraulic tripod legs for angling the projector. and 360degree rotating head so you can point the projection in any direction.

Motorized rotating head, which triggers R2 sound effects when it rotates.

Hey this could work! You'd have to set the whole thing up so that when you swivel the head, all the insides actually turn as well, that way it always stays perfectly aligned and everything.

I have a sudden incredible urge to do this with a small screen, like 7" or so. Then I'd have it set up playing "help me obi wan kenobi, you're my only hope!" 24/7.

If someone is serious about building a R2-D2 projector check this website. www.astromech.net

And there is a active group on yahoo called astromechs, complete with group buys for difficult parts.
