The whole box which is painted with its first coat I don't know which color it's going to be. The pipes are there to cool the bottom.

Nice 'n' Clean! I like your box, especially your panel mount. Also your air-flow idea through the pipe is very intriguing - can you explain a little bit how that works, I see you have two fans in that compartment, are they both blowing in the same direction? Is that air then sacked in through the pipe to cool the panel from below?
Thanks

The ventilators at the back will be in a closed box which will be devided in two seperate sections. The bottom part of the box will cool the lamp-compartment the upper part will vent air from the pipes which are connected to the bottombox. The only way air can flow will be trough the lcd controller-hole in the bottom trough the pipes out of the back. This will ensure double lcd cooling and eclectronic parts cooling, as all electronic part will reside in the bottom box

looks good - it would of been awesome to hinge from the front for keystoning - in refrence to the last picture

It would, but the connector-strip wich connects the buttons to the controller are at the front I can't hinge it from there...

That box looks great. Are you SURE there's gonna be enough airflow through that pipe tho?
THE-J
Jul 17 2004, 09:10 AM
Thanks for the input!
I do expect to have enough flow through the pipes. The pipes are 22mm in diameter. The pipes themselves wil radiate heat as well. But if it doesn't work after all I should have enough cooling anyway.

nice. being an overclocker, i appreciate "cool" cooling solutions like that. you should go work for cooler master, or zalman. how innovative.

Thanks man!. I'am thinking about putting copper plating in the lamp compartment leaving 5mm between the plates and the wall. The air between will then be ventilated. This way I will have an copper box in my box and I only have to use the lid on the front part of the box
[or just wait for pictures which show what i mean....]

The whole box.
The copper around the lamp has 1 cm of air all around, this way the heat will not be transfered to the MDF plates.

The box with the copper lid closed.
You can see the two air holes in the box. They are at both sides. Air will be sucked from there by the bottom fan. The air leaves the copper box through four holes behind the reflector (see later pic)

The reflector, lamp and air holes in the backplate. Air flows from the sides of the copper box to the back of the reflector, cooling the box from the outside and the inside.

The glass closes the first part of the box which is vented by the lower ventilator. The lcd is ventilated by the upper fan through the pipes.

Hey with all of that air flow, do you think that you might implode your box?
PS: Is that a JS series Ibanez I see in the background?

Sorry to hear of your loss man, some people just don't get it! whatever they steal or aquire dishonestly will never benefit them in the long run. Why can't they just find jobs and buy their own stuff.
With time you'll be able to replace them, meantime just try to enjoy your PJ.

Sorry for your loss. I really feel your pain. It happened with me couple times too. Thieves piss me off.
But they leave your pj. That is another good thing about homemade pj, it is big and heavy, almost thief free.
Anyways, I wish you can recover or replace your stuff soon.

That sucks dude. My friends just got their apartment robbed (while they were sleeping in it!) The guy took their credit cards, 2 cell phones and my friends 15" LCD (no it wasn't me.) At that point one of my friends started half-walking up so the guy took off.
Anyway, sorry for your loss.

While I was stationed in Spain, my father and his wife came over for a visit. One night while they were staying with us we went out on the town for some food and drink, neither of were drunk though. So after that we headed home to get some needed sleep..
While we were sleeping some one broke in my 2nd story apartment using a ladder and a car jack to spread open the bars in the window.
Carried out every thing in the living room and kitchen, (including the water heater) through the front door.
We were not the only ones in the building that got hit that week while sleeping. It happened to my best friend and my Landlord too.
The thieves were bold, silent and crafty.
Talk about waking up to a surprise.

Hey J, sorry to hear that.
Your cooling idea looks promissing, have you had the opportunity to test for temperature?
