When you say "cables" does that include a cable to connect to a LCD? I know that's one thing that is going to make Kontron a pain unless we can find a prefabbed cable.

If the answer is yes, and you confirm HDCP, count me in on the group buy.

Johnzo always has the Lvds cable included.

And all of the current MST controllers Johnzo sells are HDCP enabled so I assume this one will be also.

Yeah, he already answered with a 'YES' to that question above.

Any ballpark idea on when you would be getting the test unit?
I'm would like to be in on the group buy if it tests well.

i am in for the group buy

Will this controller only be for the 15.4" LCDs or will there be one for the 10.6 as well?
kaz
sent a pm, but posting in the thread anyway (hopefully to garner more attention).

i'm in for the group buy.

Here is a diagram for power wiring for the MST 1080p controller.

Any word on the new controllers!?
-Bill-
Any chance we can purchase molex connectors for that so we can splice them with an ATX style molex connector?
Its been a few days now. Surely you have tested everything if you were able to take pictures of it?
My projector doesn't like being teased like this with no new information.
Darishi
This new controller does seem quite enticing. Im looking forward to your findings johnzo! Might have you send me one shortly after you release your info.

In reading the millions of pages here (millions of fabulous pages that is) and in considering the wuxga panels, I feel confused by the response times. Using these panels allows 1080p projection, which is excellent but it seems the response time is too slow. I think the samsung has a response time of 25ms and the LG a time of 16ms.

People are using these panels, and they seem pleased. But the discussions of response times make me think these panels are too slow to allow for a picture without some sort of ghosting.

Am I way off base, or maybe just missing a bit of key information?

thanks!!

jonjandran
A lot of people have used these Wuxga panels (myself included) and have not seen any ghosting.

Numbers don't always tell the whole story. smile.gif
Darishi
Ohhh those dag blasted numbers, always confusing things when they should make them simpler. huh.gif

Thanks for the confidence jonjandran. Do you, or anyone else, think there is much difference between the 25ms and 16ms times? I'm starting to get a mental list together (i.e. planning for this when I probably ought to be thinking about something else biggrin.gif ) and am trying to figure out which wuxga panel to get.

Kinda sounds like they're all pretty similar. Maybe thats my answer... dry.gif

I've only used the Sharp and Samsung and they were fine. But the LG "should" be even better. I don't know that for a fact though smile.gif
-Bill-
My Sharp 15" UXGA (predecessor to the WUXGAs) has a 16 or 25 ms response time and displays action sequences in games/movies just fine.
I have never noticed any LCD ghosting on it in 5 years of taking people out in unreal tournament.

So if I were you I wouldn't worry about ghosting with the sharp panels.
It would be pretty stupid if the newer LCDs were worse than the old ones.
dougr
Did a quick look but could not find anything... i know too much has probably been made of 1080p24, but is there any way to eliminate deinterlacing artifacts from native 1080p24 sources with these controllers/panels?
Darishi
Thanks so much guys! I really appreciate it the help.

Hopefully soon to be seen in the plogs: My WUXGA Double Fold! biggrin.gif

hello,
i have a problem with my 15.4" MST controller or with my panel.
the panel is a sharp LQ154M1LW02.

i connected all wires and had used an antistatic-set, but the panel showes a white horizontal line in the middle of the tft. otherwise everything worked well.

how can i find the problem?
in what may be the reason?

check your cables, specifically the FFCs. this happened to me a while back and it was a cable issue.

The reason would be a messed up ffc. Either one on the side or the bottom. Try putting light pressure on the ffc next to the line and see if it disappears.

Is the Lcd stripped or still in the case with the backlight ?

the lcd is stripped.
first i tried with light pressure on all ffc, then more and more. no change. there is still a white line.
sure that the lcd is the problem?
other ideas? or a new one?

thx

Yes the ffc on the Lcd is the problem. It happens all the time. The ffc is VERY sensitive and when stripping it a lot of times they get messed up. The only other thing it could be is the lcd lvds cable not seated properly , but I'm sure you checked that.

Looks like an new lcd is in your future.
wolverin
ok thx, i think so too. and yes i checked the lvds cable more then one time.

which is the best panel at time?
the lg-philips has a contrast ratio of 500
the samsung too.
any other alternative?

The LG "should" be the best based on response times and contrast ratios with the Sharp next in line.

For those who think about purchasing the Samsung LTN154U2-L04 off eBay from ztronics seller, DO NOT strip the AG AT ALL. This is definately different from the LTN154U1-L01. The U2-L04 has only 2 screws to remove so it's much easier to remove the framing. It has no reflective layers, no tac layer on the back, just polarizer. The front is AG and and polarizer only. But it's not the type of polarizer on a tac type layer. It's just fuzed onto the actual AG like glued on super thin ceran wrap. So if you try removing ag, you WILL (most likely) end up removing the polarizer. You can't seperate it. Glue on the Samsung LCDS to me are way hard to strip. I tried a 5 day soak. I haven't tested it with the g2a130 board yet. sad.gif

Since the LTN154U2-L04 only has the front AG layer, which cannot be removed, and none of the other usual layers, what is your opinion on the negative effects this AG layer would have?

Is this non-removable layer something that would significantly reduce the quality of the projected image and therefore I should look for the U1 model that people had previously used?

Thanks
-darishi

I was given a fabulous answer... smile.gif

From iwantaprojector:
"Think of the ltn154u2-l04 as a lcd panel the easiest ready to use for our projectors without modding. As I said, the back layers don't have any of those silver mirror layers we can remove. The front if just AG with polarizer fuzed into it. You can't strip it apart. It must come with it so theres no way you can make it any better than it is. Also, if u get it for cheap just get it and use it as theres not going to be any dramatic difference at all compared to others."

I hear we might be doing a group buy? If so i would love to get into it for a digital controller board. What kind of pricing are we looking? I have the LG board 15.4 Johnzo was selling. It should work correct? These have DVI also correct with 16:9 scaling? Thanks so much guys.
johnzo1995
Yes, Im going to do a group buy soon. The controller will be the same as the one I sell now but w/ 1:1 and 16:9 scaling. I should have the smaple controller by the end of december. The controller will have HDMI.

Count me in. Let me know how to get in on the group by.
CognitoErgoSum
Are the 1:1's going to be available bundled with a monitor or purchased separately off of your site?

I'm a strong maybe. I'd want to hear more details first, but it's a definite posibility.
johnzo1995
Update, I should have a sample controller in 3 weeks.
soho54
The non-1:1 16:10 & HDMI/HDCP thing was the only put off for the 15.4". You just made up my mind.

Count me in for one, maybe two. biggrin.gif
How do I get in on this?

Caught the bug, already starting to collect parts for #2... interested in this as well. smile.gif

Is it the newer (well 2006) chip versions that can do correct 1080i deinterlacing to 1080p?

I hate waiting.

EDIT: "Pearl" is what the package was called I believe. Then there was one with keystone correction too.

I've been putting off upgrading my projector until something like this came out... If the tests prove good with the scaling options and hdcp, count me in! (also dependent on price) biggrin.gif

Is the price comparable to their last controller? Or is it way way cheaper (I vote that it should be way way cheaper)

Earlier in the thread Johnzo estimated it would be less than $300. I doubt it would be cheaper than the existing controller. biggrin.gif I'm looking forward to getting one as a late Christmas gift to myself. biggrin.gif

I hope we all get the chance to get in on the buy. I want it for my 15.4 LG I bought from him.
