Hello,
For my 1st PJ I'm using a PSOne screen, Straight unfolded cabinet design, unsplit frensels design from a old OHP. I'm going to use the LL varifocal triplet lens 275mm - 325mm.

Questions:
I'm having trouble figuring out the total length of the box/cabinet I'll need.
What should the distance from the front of the LCD to the rear of the front triplet be? 300mm?
Or should it be the distance from the unsplit fresnels (? mm) to the Triplet?

Thanks! unsure.gif

you need to use focal calc2, found in the calibration and tools forum to determine the LCD to triplet distance as its dependent on your throw distance (triplet to screen)

Yep exactly what he said I wish you the best of luck. Good idea with one of those mini ps one lcd screens. biggrin.gif

Hello,
After playing around with the Focal Calc. A new question comes to mind.

When using the focal cal. should I enter the minimum setting of 275mm fl of my LL varifocal lens or the max of 325mm fl. ????? unsure.gif The difference is over 50mm, almost a 2 inch change in distance from LCD to Triplet ohmy.gif .

My guess is: I would base it on a Triplet fl of 300mm (half the distance) This would give me +/- (25mm)focal length adjustment? unsure.gif

I'm using a 5" LCD looking to get a 50" screen image.
Thanks!

mmm wink.gif Ain't this goin a lil post-418-1138467163.gif . I would reccommend opening a new topic for this question to get more attention so maybe another more knowledgeable forum member could answer it best of luck. post-418-1138467278.gif

It really depends on how far away from the screen you're looking to be. That's one
of the good things about FocalCalc. At it's lowest (275mm) you'll have to be 9.92 feet
away from the screen, at mid (300mm) 10.82 feet, and max (325mm) 11.72.

And there you go. smile.gif
