Help and advice needed.

I would like to be able to build a projector that works at WUXGA resolutions and have strugled a little bit with the lCD panels here in the UK, it looks like I am going to have to source a panel and controller seperately if I want WUXGA!

I am able to get a Dell Latitude WUXGA panel new for a pretty good price, but I cannot find out much about these panels, except the information based on their performance in the actual laptops.

I have 3 questions......

1)Would the Dell panel be a good option in a DIY projector?
2)Has anyone built a projector using one of those Dell panels?
3)what controller would work well with the Dell panel?

any guidance or thoughts would be much appreciated

Hi NN,

thanx for the quick reply.

I am mainly interested in this screen for movies, maybe the odd x box game also.

I have seen the PLOGS for jonjandran and hirudin and can see that they are using 15.4" WUXGA panels, but not
specifically Dell - I am wondering about this panels performance compared to other brands.

The G2A controller looks loke a good match to the Dell panel - does anyone know if this is a combination that works out of the box, so to speak, or do I need to look at extra work with the controllers Bios?

I think the "guy" on e-bay is the same one I am considering, I am looking at £150 for a new panel, which is expensive for DIY, but from what I have heard and seen should yield good results.

There are no such things as a "Dell" Wuxga Lcd.

Dell laptops use Wuxga Lcd's from several manufacturers and then put them in their case.

They use Wuxga Lcd's from Sharp/Samsung/Lg/Toshiba.

The best is the Sharp Lcd's.

Cheers Jonjandran,

i have just trawled tru the 30+ odd page WUXGA discussion, and have a slightly better idea of what I am looking, or hoping, for when I bib on e-bay.

out of interest what fresnels did you use in your 15.4" projector?

I am considering buying the complete LL pro kit inc fresnels, and then cutting them to fit the case.
