Hi all
I'm up and running with my pj again.
Got a lilliput screen which was damaged so I returned it. Got a new one with a dead pixel but was unable to return that one (stupid ISO standards).
I ended up bying another one which I just stripped. The stripping went very easy, apart from some damaged screws from the factory. I plugged out the touch screen and the backlight and fired up the screen.

Then...

Some condensator thing on the board started making a funny buzzing noise and there also came the lovely smell of burned electronics. I also felt a small current when touching the buzzing thingy. huh.gif

I quickly tore out the power cord and planned my next move. drink.gif

My conclusion was the only thing needing that much current must be the backlight, so I plugged the backlight back in and fired up the monitor. (No fear!) The backlight made some funny noises... and lit up normally. I also got the diagnostic messages on the LCD.

So is _seems_ like I haven't destroyed anything completely.

But.. what's next? Do the backlight have to be plugged in for the screen to work? The many other lilliput 7" builds I've seen never mentioned anything about this.

Have a nice day!

You're right biggrin.gif
Hmm.. I must try to make the backlight into something useful or stylish then.. Perhaps if I put the backlight and the touch screen thing together and make a really long cable to them, I could make a remote wired touch panel thing. That would rock for drawing and such stuff.

AG stripping have always scared me a bit.. ph34r.gif But thinking about it, what do I have to loose? The feeling I just had when I though I broke the panel wasn't that hard to manage tongue.gif What method do you suggest? Just soak a towel in normal tap water and leave it overnight?

I would also like to know how you stripped your lilliput screen. (IN DETAIL!)

Mine cost me enough, and it scares me to have the possibility of ruining it.

Thanks,
