Magel's plog
I really appreciated seeing a pj in action. It gave me a chance to look at the internals close-up. Pictures just don't tell the whole story. I can't believe the size of his screen a full 10' wide by (I think) 7 1/2 feet high. We watched video from his satellite hookup which featured lifesize car racing.
Anyway, Magel sold me a spare brand new wide screen 19" monitor at a rock bottom price already stripped and ready to go. (Thank you very much once again
This is where I am today:
I don't have the right size fresnels needed to use the lcd properly right now but I was anxious to display something so I fired up the 410 watt ohp (10.5" square view) and placed the panel on top as best I could while I hooked the vga up to an old pc. Wow the big smile on my face
Now I know the ohp has the wrong colour temp and that was obvious on a light blue wall but what a great feeling to see this working in my own home.
Next step ... get those fresnels, get a better light engine, make a box... enjoy
I have read that it is possible to use a standard triplet with a 19" monitor. Aside from improving the throw distance (something which Magel already explained to me) what other advantages would the LL pro lens have over the 342mm triplet from my ohp which is similar to the LL standard. I was thinking of trying my ohp lens first but if I don't find large fresnels locally then I will have to order them from LL. If I do that, should I get the pro lens at the same time?
