Throughout the threads on the projector I note that invariably a 15" LCD panel is utilised. What improvement, if any, would a 17" LCD produced ? I realise it would necessitate enlarging the enclosure and increase the cost, but it is what I happen to have available.

Good ! That's what I happened to have in mind.

You wont be able to use the whole screen if you want to use the 17". The frenzels we use are not large enough.
But the higher res would be a nice upgrade blink.gif

Lenses for the 17" will be here very soon.

Brain - will the new fresnels be thicker compared to the curent 15" model? If not - do you see a warping problem if the field fresnel isn't mounted to glass?

Thanks, but on second thought that stripping my 17"LCD could be a costly experience, I've decided to go with the 15" LCD for my first venture. Maybe down the road I'll become more daring especially when the fresnels are available.

It will be large enough to be mounted in a frame all the way around without interfering with the light path.

Hate to sound rather impatient, Brain, but are we any closer to when the 17" fresnels will be available ? The same also goes for the 110" blackout cloth, the electronic ballast, and the EYE lamp. I was going to turn to the making of the screen while "the box" was in the holding stage, and I was stumped again. The inactivity is crippling ! sad.gif

Ya got the last of it then... now showing "Out of Stock".

I'm sure brain will have some more soon.
