By the same token, a lamp at 15,000K would it matter?

Looks good elken - it seems that the 150w ceramic topic has finally quieted down a little... about time for you to stir things up again! smile.gif Do you have any pics with the new mystery bulb and the ceramic both on for comparison..?
It's always nice to see someone going in a completely different direction... and you seem to usually pick a good one to go in.

Elken, you never cease to amaze!!! I'm beginning to think you could use a BIC lighter as a light source and generate a fantastic picture. biggrin.gif

Can you share more specifics on this new lamp?

Nice work, as always.

Hmmmmmmmmm....Another wabbit. cool.gif

Image looks great.

Is this another ceramic Elken?

Looks like the "ideal" lamp colour temperature is not necessarily up around 6000K.

Are you using an overlay?

Yes, the temp definitely matters. 3000k is too low, and 15,000k is too high. Ideal is between 4000k - 6500k.

The pics look great! Have the red, blue, or green colour settings been changed, or are they still at default?

What Elken is trying to show in this thread is that the 6,500K "sunlight" temperature is not a factor. The pics above are with a 3,000K lamp. My question is if that's the case, then would a 10-15,000K temperature matter as well? There are plenty of them used in aquariums.

I suppose that may depend on how elken has tweaked the setup to provide accurate whites and colors.. if it is software/lcd adjustments, or some 'hardware' type change... if he found a mirror or reflector that added a blue shift, then the high color temp bulbs wouldn't do much good with that type of setup.. guess we'll have to wait until elken decides to tip his hand..

Now that you've had a few hours on it, which lamp do you prefer overall?
