Has anyone figured out how to use these panels from NEC? They are LVDS (digital RGB) and would require a controller.

I have seen the controllers at Apollo Displays that look like they could work.

I realize that this route would certainly cost more, but there are benefits with the smaller panel sizes.

Anyone have any experience or ideas using these panels?

I bought the NL8060BC31-27 model on EBay last week and am still awaiting its arrival. I'll tell you how it goes once I got it running. There still is going to be some stripping involved. Not worried about it much. I'm throwing it in an Ikea box (I hopefully worked out the issues with the box) and going to hopefully get some shots up of it in action next week.

Here is a link to some more monitors the guy has on sale (right now he only has 10.4s). He sells them with a controller. I'm probably going to get a monitor with better specs via this guy in the next few weeks.

so, how did this lcd work out for you?

I got the monitor stripped; it had no FFC problems. It was very simple to take apart. I'm willing to help with the 12.1, if you need it. Make sure you have a tiny (Philips) screwdriver. Before I stripped it, I was able to get the monitor running in less than five minutes.

However, I still havn't finished the projector yet... Expect a gallery of pictures of everything next week sometime. If you need a smaller solution for a monitor and are looking at one of these monitors; I would recommend them. I'm still hoping to upgrade to the 13.3 with 1024x768 resolution.

Whats the prices? US and Others?

I got my 12.1 through EBay for $265 (included shipping & handling and controller card). Here's a link to the guy that sells them. He's seems to sell them quick though... So watch regularly... I think he is in the process of finding some 13.3s.

I bought the 1005 Lumenlab Lens Kit from Lumenlab's Store. It works great.

Now for the box... I'm not sure if you're fimiliar with the Ikea toy storage boxes that a couple people were trying to use (a whopping $12 at my local Ikea)... It turns out, the boxes were to small for standard 15" monitors. So I was able to get away with using the Ikea box because the 12.1 fits with no problem (as would a 13.3). You just have to build a frame for it that keeps it center with everything else. If you have an Ikea around you, I'd recommend picking one up (couldn't find any online). I ended up buying two because I severly messed up the first one.

I'll post some pictures of it tonight as well as some results.

thanks for the reply,
They don't sell this box through the site, only at the store...
I don't have a ikea here in Arizona...the only one near me is in L.A. and thats a 5 hour drive... I don't think $100 for gas would justify a $13.00 box...If you could do me a favor and If i send you $ could you ship one out to me? it might be cheaper not to put together...it is only 6.7kg what ever that is in lbs. i don't know...if you could give me your zip code, i'll do all of the leg work and find out S&h for you...?
if not, no hard fleeings... : )

anyway, I'm looking forward to your pics...

thank again,
