I have always admired a speaker setup that could melt my face! And well.. I finally got my own. Its not the best there is by any means.. But its better than most.. And I'm not a total audiophile yet. Maybe someday when I have more of a cash flow to fund the hobby. So yeah here it is.

First.. Is the Bose Acoustimass 16 home entertainment speaker system Its sweet..

Then we got a Liteon 2002 DVD player nothing crazy but its alright.

What i like about it though is the fact that its comes pre hacked to play any region DVD and can throw at it! Its awesome.

I've got it hooked up with a Monster optical cable. Which I think is the ONLY way to go.

I've got a Yamaha HTR-5750 Digital Home Theater Receiver.

And thats it..

So because I live in a student apartment complex I can't do a lot of what I would like to do.. (like build a sweet 1080p projector to hook straigt into a blu-ray PS3) I just don't have the space for a big ole projector.) So for now I'm just waiting like everyone else to get my hands on the LL pre-made projector.

And go from there.

just to spark up some conversation.. wink.gif

do you mean optical is the only way to go.. or Monster is the only way to go..

and what led you to spend $1300 on that bose setup?

Might I suggest that if you payed full price for the accoustimass you go get your money back. I am not trying to be rude, but there are MUCH better systems for A LOT less money. As you say you are not an audiophile yet, if you do ever become a true audiophile you will regret the large chunk of change for the bose. Now on the other hand, if you got it for free it is small and makes highs and lows so... cant really go wrong.

Well the truth is.. i did get if for what i think is pretty cheap.. its really hard to get any kind of deal on Bose. I got the whole thing for 800 bucks.

sorry it took so long to reply.. i forgot where i put this thread. lol

And yes there are lots better options out there.. but for now in my little apartment..this will do just fine i think. What kind of speakers/equipment do you guys have or would like to have?

I'd have to agree with Camman. BOSE are a company firmly stuck with trying to impress people who have more money than sense. Most of their products are gimicky, and few will excite anyone who has heard sets of speakers between the 'acceptable' and 'outstanding' mark.

I'm not big on HT speakers setups so can't advise you other than to sell them on, and go get something more suited for hi-fi reproduction. Shouldn't be a problem unless you've scratched the shiny finish on them - people who buy these seem to rank the looks very highly.

Hi Garitd,

Ouch... people here can be brutally honest. Sometimes... just brutal. You go ahead and build your dream machine. Opinions are like a-holes... everybody's got one. You can quote me on that! biggrin.gif You've found some nice toys. It should be one hell of a system. Everyone around here wants to do it on the cheap. That's cause most of us are broke, or just stingy with our money... or maybe the wife wears the pants and... blink.gif and, ph34r.gif well unsure.gif you get the idea.

Annnnyyyywhoooo... welcome. I hope you have as much fun doing this stuff as the rest of us (most of us) er (some of us!).

Cheers, wink.gif

In a small room, if you dont want a large footprint I can see why you went with bose. I just felt compelled to warn you. And yes, opinions on audio products are like a-holes, unfortunetally EVERY audiophile has the same opinion on bose. I should point out I am not an audiophile, my ears never ever became close and I sold high end home audio and video for a half a decade. biggrin.gif There are some situations in my opinion were bose is one of the correct choices, and it seems to me you might be in that situation.

Thanks for all the comments and welcome! I really do love this forum.. im sorry its been months since ive been to my own little seccion. I've been busy trying to keep up on the evo!

So let me explain again about the bose. I'll be honest.. im still a young and aspiring wannabe audio expert. A few years ago though i didnt know there was anything better than bose speakers. Looking back I know that was very silly. I know there are tons of better systems out there. And truthfully what i want to do now is build my own speakers and get rid of the bose!

my mindframe at the time of buying the bose was mostly that it was such a good deal.

Anyway.. im excited for future projects!
garitd
well Im getting a better idea of what I want now. 1080p all the way. i just hope i have a big enough room to do this in..

i guess ill get one of these as well..
