Hey, I need ~150ft of 14awg speaker wire for my next audio installation. I can only seem to find wire spools in 100 or 300ft. Monoprice has 300ft spools for $57. The cheapest I can find it by foot is ~38 cents/ft from blue jeans cables which adds to $57. I'm pretty sure the 14awg from home depot isn't much less. So anywhere I can get 150 ft for around $30? If I buy the 300ft spool, I'll have ~150ft to sell. I'd let it go for half price shipped.

You looking for Audiophile grade, architectural, or pro grade?

Have you looked at home depot ? ... i'm thinking it would be cheaper... and no shipping charge (which might be another $8-10?). I bought a 250ft spool of 14 ga... for what I want to say was ~$30 (although I don't have a clear memory of it... or a receipt... dry.gif )

good luck.

cheers,

i heard someone raving about home power cable for a lamp. They say for the price it cant be beat for speaker wire.

Well I'll check home depot again, but I seem to remember it being more than I wanted to spend at the time. I didn't look at spools though.

went to home depot on my way back from work. 250 ft spool of 14awg speaker wire was $68.xx. It was also $0.45/ft aka super expensive. Didn't pay too much attention to the lamp wire. I'll just go with the 300ft spool from monoprice. I will have ~150ft for sale in the trading post when I'm through so PM me if you want dibs.

holy crap ! ... I hate things like this ... I know that I paid something much less than $68... like I said, about $30...

I'm really sorry if I sent you on a wild goose chase... now i've got to figure out if i've got the worse memory ever (as in I really paid $68), or if it is just something like a mismarked price or some other strange thing... I'll stop in at HD today and verify my "facts"... sad.gif unsure.gif

Audiophile grade, architectural, or pro grade?

let's not start this again.

I would ask if you want something to install behind walls, or lay on the carpet or drape behind a DJ stage.

I got my speaker wire, and numerous other things, from http://www.mpja.com There surplus so they may or may not have some yet.

Copper has really gone up I just paid $39.00 for 250 ft of 18gauge lamp wire.

The metal scrap yard I go to that is quite large had almost no stuff, they must have cashed in 40 truck loads of metal.

well, I stopped into home depot yesterday... and [drum roll please] ... I got a very good price rolleyes.gif ... based on a mismark of 14ga. wire with a price of 18ga. wire... Indeed the 250ft spool of 14ga. is (supposed to be) $68, the 16ga. about $45 (or so) and 18ga is $30... This will likely be corrected as the guy giving me a hand acted a bit surprised himself... certainly not a great deal at $68 sad.gif

sorry again Tame..
