Well I was scamed well not really but more like intraduced into the diy world when i discoverd of course for 20 dollars you can get a 150" tv, and the plans where included and what not and you would get great results. well you didnt and yea mine where all made of cardboard i must have made around 13 different boxes each time getting little more knowledge about how it all works, then I got into the easy OHP and LCD 2 items thats it maybe 20 hours of work and get urself a prety good image. Now that i have 2 days off ive been reading as many post's and PLOG's that i can, so far im going to take my OHP and use the bulb's the reflectors, the Fresnel lens and the Projection lens. Going to use 3 different power sources for this projector instead of combining them all into one and having to rewire everything, Im going to make 2 boxes one to house the componets and the 2nd to house the power, which then will hook up to the first box. Im going to use a 15inch monitor thinking of Westinghouse LCM-15V5.

SO far for parts
OHP - 4000 lumen Dukane 4003 nice thing has a 120v 3 prong port on the side

LCD - NEC Multisync LCD 1530v FFC issue but working on it
Want to use Westinghouse LCM-15V5

Bulb - 410w 82v GE FXL bulb .qty 2 one is a spare just incase

Fresnel - From OHP which i believe they are glued together which i will have to un do them to get 2 of them or if that doesnt work ill get the S15 Fresnel Lenses from LL

Reflector - hoping to just keep the bulbs and the reflector that is used in the OHP the same way. if cant will buy the one from LL of course

Projection Lens - OHP says its 327mm not sure what that means

and i believe thats all i will need, not sure if i will need a tempered glass if i do take it from the OHP and then not sure if i will need anything to projector the parts from uv or ir please help me on that any suggestions would glad to hear

THis picture you can see the Mirror, Projectio Lens, and then on the bottom not sure what that is, but if makes images more clear thats about it

How wide is the 327mm triplet on the inside? Just the glass.

Scuba,

I am putting the finishing touches on my overhead projector. Check my PLOG out in my signature. The lense from the projector may be too small. I tried to use mine also, but was disapointed by the results. The same goes for the fresnels of the overhead. They most likely are not large enough to cover the entire screen. If you dont need to keystone, keep them glued together for an unslip setup. They will never be aligned as well as they are now glued together (at least thats the case w/ mine). The westinghouse is what I usd and it is a great choice.

Good luck!

I'm not sure how big the varifocals are on those 3Ms but the triplet from my Dukane 670 has very similar specs to the triplet sold at LL. If fact, by my measurements, it is just a bit larger (88 mm total diameter, as opposed to LL's 85, 73mm outer lens diameter, 63mm clear aperture.)

So, Scuba, if your lens is the same size as mine, it should work fine. From what I understand, that flip-away lens is a wide-angle lens. Surprised you found it made the image clearer, because i had the exact opposite experience and ultimately removed it entirely.

p.s. the "327mm" on the lens is its focal length, or a rough estimate of how far it should be placed from the LCD to achieve focus. Make sure to use Dazzla's focal calculator to get the actual distance though. [

I messured it and it was at 2.5 in = 63.5 millimeters so im guessing i will need to get new fresnels and then a new projection lens, still waiting for the auction to finish for the monitor, ill be looking at 100 bucks i think to get it, then i saw this for the enclosure, not sure if it includes everything except the monitor

Did you read my post at all? huh.gif
scubasjl18
Sorry my bad i read it earlier today then came back and skimmed it and yeah then posted, well then i guess iw ont need to get a new one then, im gonna start to gut the projector tomorrowand figure out how i will mount everything
scubasjl18
Figured i would do some measurements for the project lens, here they are

I'm guessing that 97mm figure for total diameter should be 87?

I don't suppose you could let me know how you go with the FFC issue on the NEC 1530V? I have the same monitor and found that problem... the added problem is that I'm in Australia and I've checked component shops for FFC extensions and they have turned up with nothing... the best help I got was one sales guy saying "do a search for PCB connectors"?

I'm not even sure of the pitch etc of the FFC? The guy measured it as 9mm wide (though it may be 10) and I'm not sure how many wires it has (11?).

If you have any success with it I'd love to know how you got around it (also where to get an extension if that's what you go with). Thanks for any help and good luck with your Projector.

scubasjl18,

Somehow that Dukane diagram looks very familiar...did you edit the pro lens specs? laugh.gif
scubasjl18
well the diagram is from the standard lens specs and i just edited it and yeah its 87 not 97 my bad haha, anyways I will be taking apart yet anotehr Nec Multiview 1530v this week to see if i can get it to work this time 3rd try is the charm i hope! anyways the ffc cable that you would need to get to remove the ffc issue would be a 20 pin with a .5mm pitch so that would make it just over 3/16")wide.. Also woundering if anyone has the female zif for that i have missplace mine with the move between my apartment and my parents house and yeah i think i would save around 20 hours if i got a new one haha. Will be posting instructions on how to take apart the Nec monitor once i have time to get a digital camera, roomate took his tonight. Anyways if the monitor doesnt work ill be looking at getting the westinghouse monitor think it cost me a 100 for it in the end. Im also woundering about the antiglare on the monitors and how you go about getting it off without getting any of the boards wet?

Thanks heaps for that... I shall await further news of your progress before shelling out the cash to order the extension... hope it works for you, it's a little frustrating sitting here with an OHP and an LCD panel but not being able to set things up. Good luck!

I was just looking at the triplet and some one has one a long time ago that might have been 80mm on the inside.

( OT sorry)
If they can use a long fl add on singlet lens to make the throw shorter ( wide angle) could we just add a long fl negtive lens to make the throw longer? making the fl 400mm would make a lor of people happy and with some of the small arc ceramices the arc size would not be a problem.

Can you tell us what the fl of the add on lens is?

Saturday is my day off im buying a lcd panel for a small side project i have, I should have time to get a tutorial together for taking apart the NEC monitor, then on to fitting everything in the box Hurray any have a female zif 20pin connector 5mm need one bad but dont want to buy a new extension for 20 bucks
